Fishing is very popular in the town where I went to 11th grade...
Good ol American fishing
...but then these Canadian fish kept swimming over and . . . well, what do ya do?
Can't be prejudiced, so we caught & ate them too.
Best fishing I ever had was right off those banks.
I have a degree in compter science. I excell at math and have studied calculus, statistics, etc. I now write financial software.
Given that, i was unable at the time to help a 8 year old with her homework. I could get the right answer but the method they now teach to get to it is so backassward i couln'd figure it out and therefore could not help with the process.....and I have made my career out of solving math and pattern related problems!!!!
OK, this is strange. My kids are in their 30's now.
I've never seen any "common core" math examples.
We learned to use a number line and then a linear slide rule, and of course engineers all used a logarithmic number line device called a slide rule.
The example above uses paper to mimic a slide rule.
Just use the dang sliderule!
