Mossberg 590 Shockwave Heat Shield ??????

Was looking into buying a "Heat Shield" to install on my 590 Shockwave and well come to find out, after speaking with the tech over at Mossberg, I was told that Mossberg did not/does not make a heat shield specifically for the 590 Shockwave and only for that model!?

No wonder when shopping around online for a Heat Shield for my 590 Shockwave just about every site gives in their description about it....specifically states that the Heat Shield is, quote....."NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE 590 SHOCKWAVE".

Strange but...if you look at the parts breakdown in the manual offered on your 590 Shockwave (if you don't have your manual look at the Mossberg website and download it from there) it specifically shows a picture and parts stating that there is a Heat Shield and accessory parts for it?...reference Parts 31-33 on Pages 30 & 31 respectively. But again, those parts could be for only the 590 and not the 590 Shockwave?

I guess if I really wanted one for my 590 Shockwave I would need to look into possibly having one customized/made?

Anyone here has a 590 Shockwave with a Heat Shield installed?

If so could you explain exactly in detail what you did or went about having one installed on it?

Where did you acquire it from?...online store?...etc.

Also please post pictures of it if possible?

Thanks in advance to all who post on this thread!

Sorry for the late response. This is what I have on my Shockwave: https://www.atioutdoors.com/product/classic-shotgun-heatshield/

It installed without much difficulty. The only real customization I had to do was because of the XS Big Dot front sight I had installed. This required opening up the hole for the stock brass bead sight.

Besides that, I did have to use some pliers and channel locks to gently bend the heat shield a bit to get a perfect fit. I may have had to get some longer screws for the end clamp, I don't recall for sure.

Manufacturer's directions: https://atioutdoors.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/SHS1300.pdf

As seen in the second photo, I had to file down a little "hump" at the receiver end of the heat shield to better see the XS front sight.

Thanks for your post Kadelic!

Couple of questions....

1.) Could you be more specific about the 'hump" that you grind'ed down?....Was it that much elevated ?.....Did you fully clamp down that section end of the heat shield so that it would not interfere?.....or was it just that difficult to clamp down that section because it was really not a perfect fit?

2.) Could you post close up pictures of each section of where the clamped and screws are screwed in?

Thanks in advance!

If you look closely at the picture on the ATI website, there is a raised area on top of the heat shield close to the end that goes toward the receiver. The shiny area in my second picture above shows where I removed some material. About .1".

It was not a perfect fit and I had to manipulate it a bit to fit snug against the barrel at the receiver end. The muzzle end also required some manipulation to get the screws to fit through both sides. Pardon the cat hair in the pics.

Mossberg 930 isn't the only shotgun you can't get a heatsheild for... I have a Hatsan Escort, 10 shot semi, that i've burnt myself on several times, but i can't find a heatshield for it...

The annoying thing is, Hatsan make the Raider model, same layout but mag fed instead of tube, and that has a Heatshield..!!

I've even contacted the importers but they say the Raider headshield isn't suitable for the Escort.... and the Raider heatshield isn't listed anywhere as a spare part...
