Mine was lose when I cleaned it last. Very fine right hand thread like a choke tube. Maybe try a leather strip with vise grip?- 47MolineRTU

My sa20 the gas piston is 3 pieces, the top and bottom screw together and ring then easily separates.- 47MolineRTU
