BUG OUT BAGS...

"assorted MRE's"......you all must not have eaten an MRE before, they have toilet paper in them. Lighthouse, in a brown paper wrapper located in the clear bag that had the coffee , gum etc......not that you need it. We call them Meals that Refuse to Exit.....and after about three or four days when they do you don't need toilet paper you need a Band-Aid

"assorted MRE's", must take up half your pack ?

I've built three packs Oli...one each for my wife, daughter, and myself. That way each of us can survive until such time as we meet up...we aren't always in the same place

Each bag holds two MRE's and two granola energy bars...as far as food. And yea...I've eaten MRE's...not the best, or worst...just adequate till other food can be reached.

Our bug out location has a combination of hard shelter, Wise Food Products and enough drinking water to last six months....amongst other essentials...But we must first reach it.

I'm not trying to last a year off what I stuff in any one bag...just survive long enough to get to that safe place where other supplies await or can be hunted or can be bought.

The bags only hold so much...and become self defeating if too heavy to carry or over stuffed with items not deemed essential to surviving a 72 hour period.

No more...No less !!

What's in your bag...?!

Every time this topic comes up on any number of forums, I'm always curious about where the bugouters will bug out to.

Without getting specific, it seems to me that would depend on the incentive/disaster/eotwawki scenario. Nuclear war, bio, space hemorrhoid, financial collapse, 40 days of rain, whatever.

Personally, I am where I am, and here is where I will stay, come what may. :)

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see anyone including antibiotics in their medical kits. I guess this would only apply to bags designed for the long term, but should be a consideration.
Any thoughts on this, folks?

Medicine is a must.

If you are going to take antibiotics with you, make sure they are in pill form as they don't require refridgeration like some liquids.

Vancomycin and Clindamycin are very popular for drug resistant bacteria such as mrsa.

triple antibiotic ointments and neomycin and neosporin are a good ointment/cream type antibiotic.

If you have specific meds that you need to take (blood pressure, heart meds, etc) talk to your doctor to see if they have any samples of the product that you normally take to supplement your bag in case of being delayed being able to get to the pharmacy for refills.

And for those of us with wifes and daughters, maxi pads are a good idea, and for anyone that may have an open wound that needs dressed.

Pads and tampons are, actually terrible to dress wounds. They're designed to draw fluid away, and contain it. The goal of a field dressing is to haste the clotting process, and help close the wound. To prevent more blood loss.
