Serial number start with "L" ?

Thanks Old Mossy! The LOP is 14". The serial number starts with "J". I could not pass it up and not put it in the collection! It needs a little TLC. But hey, nothing like a little time with patience! Hate to bomb you with a ton of questions....
1. What does the "E" denote?
2. What all can you tell from the serial numbers on Mossbergs?
3. Is there a trouble section for 500?

With a 14" LOP it is a adult model.

The E stands for .410


Educated guess on the serial # to be early to mid '80's

Heelo all. New here. Just recently got a Mossberg 500 in .410. Nice little shotgun. I would like to put a tactical style stock on it but I can't find one that fits the 410. Anyone know of one. And other accessories I can put on it? All I can find is a heat guard/sight from ATI.

Sorry to say that there isn't much aftermarket tactical stuff out there for the .410 that I've seen.

The one I currently have, just bought last weekend, is a New Haven 600AT, with 28" Vent Rib barrel and C-Lect Choke. Will try and get a photo soon.
