Thank you U.S. Soldiers. You ROCK!!!!

That was great to read the opinion of our troops from a soldier from another country. It give a great new perspective of our current fighting men. The liberals in DC should be forced to read that.

That has been circulating around Facebook too. I read it the other week. While it is inspiring, and it's true that our troops are some of the fittest and best trained in the world, it certainly isn't true that they never complain. Next to beer and porn, bitching is one of the US Marines' favorite things to do.
The lure surrounding the USMC and American military in general is one of the reasons why we're so successful in our military campaigns (or maybe it's that we spend more than everyone else). We were shown utmost respect by other countries' militarys if not for our person exploits, but for our fire fathers'.
I appreciate what this Frenchman has said and respect his opinions. My point is that the Georgians we served with thought we were 1000 times better warriors than themselves, while they had just defended their country from a Russian invasion only 2 years prior; losing friends, family, and witnessing atrocities that I couldn't even imagine, being a US Marine is a war zone.
All-in-all, I guess my point is that this observation is either exceptional, or inflated, and also that we do have the best and brightest in the world.

Too bad all that praise heaped on our fighting men and women has had nearly zero positive effect on pay and benefits (among other sequestration problems) for active duty personnel. They get a whopping 1% COLA this year.

If I'm not mistaken whenever I was in we got around 1% per year. Some years we got nothing. Some months we didn't get paid lol.

I retired in '83, but I can still recall the ups and downs of that. Didn't like downs then either.
