First attempt at Building a (hicap) Handgun

I'm looking for some OEM "take-off" parts if anyone has extras they want to sell (such as flash "hiders" and charging handles...).

like to help, but I have never bought a built one yet.....just build them how I like them to try to avoid the factory part pile thing.

What parts do you need and how many ?

My anodizer, who happens to also sell 80%-ers (that they anodize), also sells bolts and barrels sourced from a local military supplier (AO). Last time I was there, the owner had a truck bed LOADED with barrels and BCGs! :D Definitely MY kind of guy! :) The next time I drop off my "regular" parts, I will be buying parts to build the aforementioned f/s & f/d builds not to mention the "trunk" AR pistol I will be posting here, once "ready". ;) All on a budget, of course, hence the request for OEM "take-offs"...

Let me know what you need when the time comes. I've usually got enough take-off parts laying around to slap together most of a rifle...

its dark hard to tell so I'll say now this brace is not in contact with my shoulder, I just got a super tight cheek purchase, they call me Velcro cheek

Good to go now.

I know that looks like a big fireball on film, but if it's like the one the pig produces it's very concentrated and directed forward rather than dispersed upward into the field of view like a typical flash hider. Doesn't get in the way of follow-up shots, but it'd definitely make an impression on anyone standing down range...

oh yeah, it is real short lived. Not like getting your picture taken or anything. I didn't see spots or anything after and could see the target at all times.

says it's set to private, and the embedded link doesn't work.

I think I know what I did wrong....but no telling with me.....I'll apparently wipe out a few hundred pictures with the press of a button

I can see it now.

Nice control.

Impressive flash.

cant wait to give it the business but I want to wait for the BCG so they can wear in together.
I can see what you mean about a "tuned" port for the pistol gas . This hole was alarmingly small and I thought ok its likely to not be over gassed .
It literally feels less out of shape and jumpy than carbines I have shot.
Cant wait to seriously shoot it and put more cheek into it on some gongs!
Then a red dot when my taxes come back....cant wait , miss my red dot

Now the Sons of Liberty recorded on History I'm leaving to watch it, looks awesome hope its good.

HEY John, That BCG just went to 105....I'm ordering tomorrow ......I cant find shit on the reduced friction but I am finding stuff on all their other BCG's and haven't seen a bad word yet so I bet they are good quality
Roger that. It may be the next kind I buy, so let me know.

Got the CH in, Fortis Hammer in the Teflon black finish….I already like better than the Gunfighter.

It’s a little more robust everywhere, the latch feels nicer, beefier, and more grippy .

The latch is designed to bottom out on the handle reducing the stress on the roll pin. The roll pin itself is a tad bigger than the BCM but the walls of the pin look to be almost twice as thick as the roll pin used in the BCM

The finish is slick, not NiB slick but way slicker than Park

The CH looks to have the Nickeline finish of the original but with a blackish coating over. I think this because inside the channel where the gas key rides is almost the grey color of straight Nickeline

The Fortis only comes in one configuration however it comes in grey with the Nickeline option.

In comparison to the BCM Mod3….long latch model.

And for fun I threw 5 bucks at a Seekins magazine release button its cool but I see no real advantage to it

Final piece to the puzzle

Ares Armor Nitride Low Friction BCG

[URL=http://s45.photobucket.com/user/oli700/media/2a/IMG_0017_zps20676d21.jpg.html]

Everything looks as it should. It is no heavier than a standard M16 group at 11.5 ounces

WOW

Machining is top shelf….I mean as nice as any BCG I have ever held and nicer than most

Here are some picks against the Seekins Melonite , considered nicer by many.

The Ares unit is better machined, better finished and better attention to detail.

All the edges are knife sharp, cutters used on this unit were top shelf tooling, sharpened correctly

The SWEET thing about this group is that with the exception of the firing pin EVERYTHING is Nitrade treated….one of the only BCG that can claim this

The bolt includes a Crane O-Ring

[URL=http://s45.photobucket.com/user/oli700/media/2a/IMG_0022_zpsa8a4b5a5.jpg.html]

As a nice touch it has an actual machined gas key, most are MIM like the Seekins and MIM is considered the lesser of the two.

The Hate

The way they created the firing pin keeper hole is wired……I hate it in fact, what a pain to squeeze the keeper together and get it in the hole, when it gets to the other side it was super tough to get seated….. With the incredible attention to detail put into this BCG there has to be a reason it is machined this way rather than the standard funnel that squeezes the keeper shut automatically.

I will mitigate this with a KNS keeper pin

This concludes the handgun build, now to the reloading bench for handgun load work ups

Thanks for watching !
