Mossberg Serial Number Data Base

Updated Chart see page #1

Looks like the DELTA characters are used in-between the main characters, perhaps where they're switching dies. If anyone has a D number please contact us. We'd love to talk to you.

I just sent a email to Ms.Norma. Hopefully she will be able to help us on the "D" prefix and much more.

We are getting together a Mossberg serial number data base. I know there are a lot of members wanting to know the date of their Mossberg's without the hassle of calling Mossberg or Havlin.

We need member input for this to work. We are asking for the first few digits of you serial #, (A123xxx)and any info you have on the gun.(box label,,date bought)
We are trying to make this a quick reference chart for members who want to find the date of their Mossberg.
Thank you in advance for the help.

Almost forgot, blacksmith is also working on this project and a chart for this.

This is what we have so far,,,,,
Will edit list as needed.

We have our store records some as early as 1957. It was a card system until 1968, then began long A&D Book form. Here are some new guns that we received from Mossberg Distributors during the 1980s, and who we got them from. We post as Range, with zeros at the end instead of XXs:
Mossberg 479 Rifle Lever Action .30-30 SN Range 939600 received new 8/83 from GGS in Kentucky (George's Gun Shop in Louisville was a Mossberg, Ruger, Colt Distributor)
Mossberg 500 12 gauge H375000 range 5/80 GGS in Kentucky
Mossberg 500s 12 gauge H845000 - H940000 range multiple guns received from Shiloh Guns 9/83 (Shiloh Guns was a Mississippi Distributor in the 1980s)
Mossberg 500, H941000 range Shiloh Guns, received 12/83
Mossberg 500, J429000 - J432000 range, received 4/85 from Ellett Brothers, Distributor in Chapin, SC
Mossberg 500, J914000 - J915000 range, multiples received 2/88 from Davidson Supply in Greensboro, NC
Mossberg 640 .22 Mag SN# 1323300 range, received 11/83 GGS in Kentucky
Mossberg 640 .22 Mag, SN# 1370000 range, received 2/85 from RSR Wholesale Guns in Miami
Mossberg 144 .22 LR, SN# 1390000 range, received 1/88 from Davidson Supply
(end of list) Hope that helps a little, thanks for your efforts, and I will post if we get a chance to go through any more of our old records. John Robertson, Robertson Trading Post, Henderson, TN

Holy Cow you get best-first-post-of-the-year award!

I've watched your auctions for years and always figured yall had great price and selection. When I lived over that way I always wanted to stop in but never got a round to it. Welcome to the forum.

Well it's been just about 2 months since we started collecting serial numbers.

Thanks to the members we have got a dam good base started.

We still need a lot more, so please stop by and enter your info every number counts.

Thank you.

Is that the date you bought it or is that the date Mossberg told you?
