Mossberg 185DC and 395KB

Hello Everyone!

I'm new here, but wanted to join up and see if anyone else loves these old bolt-action beaters! I learned to shoot a shotgun when I was a kid with my father, using his 20 gauge 385 (which I still have). I've since purchased a really well taken care of 12 gauge 395KA and have enjoyed potting at grouse and rabbits with it. I wonder if anyone uses these for turkey hunting? I know bolt-action shotguns are not as 'sexy' as the newer platforms, but MAN do I have a lot of fun with them! Love to hear your thoughts. I'll post some pics in a bit.

Cheers,
Shawn

I actually am in possession of my father's Mossberg 185 DC 20-gauge and a Mossberg 395 KB 12- gauge. As promised, here are the pictures. The lighter one on the top is the 395 KB, while the lower, darker one is my father's 185 DC. Both have been refinished with Tru Oil and are in great shape! I love shooting these guys!

IMG_20150305_184250465.jpg And my arsenal. From top to bottom : Browning BLR .308, Traditions Buckstalker .50 cal muzzleloader, Marlin 795 semi-auto .22 repeater, Mossberg 395 12-gauge, my father's Mossberg 185 20-gauge and my mother's little Stevens break action .410 (incidentally, the very first firearm both me and my brother learned to shoot on about a million years ago). Not a safe-Queen in the group, they're all fielded as often as possible. in the interests of home security, I probably should invest in a good, used pump or semi....maybe Santa.......

Of all the shotguns I have owned the one that has put the most meat in the cooler is my
195D 12ga.2&3)4"
Never used it for slugs. But it has a great pattern. And has dumped its share of long beards.
Ps. I have it's little brother to.185D.
