Howdy,
This is a monthly series of questions topic for everyone to join in on the discussion. Some of the later questions may have a poll, and some will not. Don't be shy now, go ahead and post an answer and vote in the polls...

Were your gun and shooting related purchases increased with President Obama in office and do you see your purchases reducing with President Trump in office?

I don't know my purchases increased but I had put an AR in layaway after the primaries last year. I felt if I didn't get one, Hillary would surely appoint a judge that would be willing to rule against 2nd Amendment freedoms (restricted already as they are) we currently enjoy and that the AR might not have been available later or at the very least the demand leading up to her being sworn in would greatly increase and they'd be hard to come by.

I ended up cancelling the layaway though. In large part because my wife had become more interested in owning her own handgun and had been doing some comparison shopping. I decided another purchase for myself could wait and I'd start saving to be able to get what she wants instead which is a Kimber.

Another reason I cancelled the layaway though is so I'd focus on becoming better with the firearms I already have. I've found with the bolt action I'm far more deliberate with shots than I was with my first AR and I want to get better. That and my daughters boyfriend got an AR and I can shoot his if I feel the itch.

Yes. I bought more guns and ammo during the last 4 years of his term than in the previous 30 years put together. It was all the cries for gun control after Sandy Hook that got me started. So far, I have only purchased one new firearm during Trump's time in office.

I got into guns after hurricane Irene. And was prepared when sandy hit and caused a lot of unrest in my neck of the woods.

All of it was under Obama.

Safe act and sandy hook taught me to stock up.

Isis threat and the civil unrest taught me to train a lot.

Training lead me to compete.

I'm past what I need to defend my family.

I'm moving on to my wants.

And the buyers market Trump brings is making my wants a lot easier to obtain.

'Merica.

I've been flat stable. I haven't bought a gun since 2005. This month I am going to sell 2 guns and buy 1.
I've bid on many guns in auctions in the last 4 years. I've always bid for value, not for inventory and I just won't go over certain limits. I bid $8000 dollars on two different scoped Barret 50 BMGs, but they both ran up to near $11K.

So Trump's ascendancy will not put any stop or go on my buying. Now if :hrc: had been elected it would have been a different story.

Gun purchasees are down, reloading efforts are up.

I had actually owned 6 guns given me, but never bought one myself until 2015.

Except for the Mossberg 353T, I bought all this under the sign of O'bomba, with Hillary rising:

Plus a gun safe, an ammo cabinet, 3 reloading presses, lead pot, a whole bunch of powder and bullets, shot, primer's, wads and reloading tools. A gun bench, spotting scope, rangefinder, powder scale,

Since Trump, three of those 19 shown were bought, plus two pistols not yet delivered.

So only five of 21 bought post Trump. Clearly I am slowing down, but it's partly because I retired in Feb.

I wanted an AR, but Corrupticut's governor put the kybosh on it by the time I had saved up for one. After that, I stopped supporting CT stores and haven't bought crap...screw em. Everything I have was bought before sandyhook...

I probably acquired more under Obama. I probably am ramping down a bit but not necessarily as a direct result of political change, more to do with current inventory.

Now that ammo prices and availability have gotten a bit better I have been focusing more on rebuilding reserves and supplies in that area.

SAFE Act really pissed me off but not as much as how the LGS were screwing us for it and hyper inflated prices (guns & ammo). Only good thing that came from the SAFE Act was some people got their FFL and did strictly transfers and undercut the LGS immensely. I can buy a gun online and have it shipped to my guy and only pay $25 transfer fee and save hundreds compared to buying locally.

Stocked up on both under obama but as the prices rose my purchasing dropped. Have more than enough hardware but may pick up more to feed'em.

One thing that has happened with obama being gone is my paranoia of confiscations and the like has gone away. If the bitch was elected I'm sure we'd be headed down that road.

The one purchase I bought because of Obama was an AK-47. I did however buy a few others quicker than I would have otherwise. Oklahoma is gun friendly, but in todays political environment things can change rapidly. Just because Trump is president I do not
think Liberals have given up the idea of gun control.

Gun porn...

I am fairly well stocked up right now. My purchases definitely increased under Obama. My buying has tailed off but it was from helping my daughter by a Jeep rather than Trump coming into office. Right now I'm looking at my son starting driving and my daughter starting college in 2018. I'll keep active and I will keep shooting and reloading. I'll definitely be looking for deals now and I'm hoping gun show prices go down...time will tell.

I added 2 boxes of 30-30, 2 boxes of 9mm, and one box of 22 LR to my stash over the weekend. All on sale at a shop I stop in from time to time.

Gander Mountain is closing and I am heading to the store in Tulsa this morning to check out the closing sale they are having.

I've been to Gander Mountain three times, no deals worth making another trip.

Nope. Saw a post on the S&W forum where a guy was so happy he stumbled on to a deal for a new Shield .45 at Gander Mountain. With the GM 10% discount and the $75 rebate he said it ended up costing him $330. Yes, he reiterated AFTER the rebate. Sheesh......I've seem them online for $299.99 BEFORE the rebate.

I was prepared long before Obama. I never trusted Bill Clinton. I only laughed at the panic buying Obama created, but I was glad to see gun sales up, but it sure caused prices to sky rocket. I think prices are coming down, but they will never come down to where they were before Obama.
