Condor Molle Vests ?

Ok, having said I would never buy a molle vest tonight I have crumbled to temptation. I ordered a few Condor 25 round shotgun shell pouches . So with that what's the best vest to buy ? I was looking at a Condor QPC

Chris

Hello Chris!

Do you plan on running plates in your rig? If not, I prefer the lighter weight and more open design of the vest below...

Condor Tactical Gear Modular Style Vest

It has all the room for attaching pouches you'd need with a more open neck. Getting in and out is a lot simpler with the front zipper as well. Here's mine is set up as a shotgun/pistol rig...

Here's another thread with some of my other gear from Condor...

Cheers for the info. I couldn't decide so just ordered a light weight rig and a QPC with a couple 25 round pounces

Picked up a couple soft plates in NIJ LEVEL IIIA: (.44 Magnum; Submachine Gun 9mm). This armour protects against .44 Magnum, Semi Jacketed Hollow Point (SJHP) bullets with nominal masses of 15.55 g (240 gr.) impacting at a velocity of 426 m/s (1,400 ft/s) or less and against 9mm full-metal jacketed bullets with nominal masses of 8.0 g (124 gr.) impacting at a velocity of 426 m/s (1,400 ft/s) or less. It also provides protection against most handgun threats as well as the Level I, IIA, and II threats. Level IIIA body armour provides the highest level of protection currently available from concealable body armour and is generally suitable for routine wear in many situations

as am I....

do you mind throwing together a price list of your entire layout as well? interested in what kind of cost goes into putting together such a rig.

Not 100% sure the soft armour will fit the carrier. It should fit Balcs cut armour but this was unissued police surplus and was going cheap so I will give it a go. it worked out about $45 in us money . if not im sure I can pick a carrier up somewhere for it and keep it as a spare. In the meantime I picked up some level 3 light weight plates that will fit the QPC. They are new and unfortunately were expensive. If the soft armour doesn't fit I will look for a level 3 balcs cut set online

They weigh 1200 grams each so not too heavy

The Condor QPC worked out £80 = $119
The soft armour was £30 = $45
Level 3 plates £200 so $300

Plates arrived, Just waiting for the BALCS cut soft armour. Gone with another upgraded set in UK HG2, KR2. So that's ballistic up to .44 mag and shotgun on the HG2 and knives and syringes on the KR2

US spec for the armour is NIJ IIIA : New armor protects against 8.1 g (125 gr) .357 SIG FMJ Flat Nose (FN) bullets at a velocity of 448 m/s ± 9.1 m/s (1470 ft/s ± 30 ft/s) and 15.6 g (240 gr) .44 Magnum Semi Jacketed Hollow Point (SJHP) bullets at a velocity of 436 m/s (1430 ft/s ± 30 ft/s). Conditioned armor protects against 8.1 g (125 gr) .357 SIG FMJ Flat Nose (FN) bullets at a velocity of 430 m/s ± 9.1 m/s (1410 ft/s ± 30 ft/s) and 15.6 g (240 gr) .44 Magnum Semi Jacketed Hollow Point (SJHP) bullets at a velocity of 408 m/s ± 9.1 m/s (1340 ft/s ± 30 ft/s). It also provides protection against most handgun threats, as well as the threats mentioned in [Types I, IIA, and II].

With the plates its level all in all NIJ level 3 multiple hits : Armor protects against 9.6 g (148 gr) 7.62×51mm NATO M80 ball bullets at a velocity of 847 m/s ± 9.1 m/s (2780 ft/s ± 30 ft/s).

The hard plates fitted fine. Still waiting for a set of Jack Ellis BALCS cut soft armour to arrive. Got a great deal on the soft armour only paid £115

It feels quite good. It sits fine at waist level allowing enough lower body space to sit down comfortably. So without stating the obvious this is what a fat guy in body armour looks like. I need to lay off the BBQ and get back to training

Nice!

I've eaten a few too many plates of BBQ as well, so you're in good company my friend. The rig looks great...

Picked up a few bits today. Love the Condor stuff seems well made compared to some of the imported Jap stuff I have seen. Anyway picked up two of these 25 round shell carriers
