Alrighty Gentelmen, and Ladies! Youre not forgotten!
I'm going to include the Ambi sling plate here too, since in my case I am using the adapter and sling in conjunction.
Firt Impressions:
The sling plate and sling both look to be solidly made and are also both made in the USA! The sling is pretty heavy duty cordura? or like the denier nylon. I like the look and feel of both. The sling plate is made from machined aluminum. Good quality stuff and reasonably priced, competitively even!
Installation:
If you can remove a stock, you can install the Ambi Sling Plate Adapter! Its easy! Now, in my case, I am also using the Hogue short LOP stock. Hogue doesnt send a stock bolt for the Mossberg 500/590 shotguns with the stock, you use the same bolt. Once I added the sling plate, the bolt was too short and only had a few threads catching the receiver. Not really enough to be comfortable with though and would allow for some stock twist. I looked at the big name DYI hardware stores, Lowes, Home Depot... I ended up finding what I needed at my very own local harddware store! I think i went with a 6" x 5/16" x 18 to 1" hex head bolt. Only thing, I couldnt find a grade 8 or hardened bolt. I did however find a grade 5 bolt that was fully threaded. I wanted it fully threaded incase I had to trim the bolt down. Put the bolt in, snug it down and zero issues since! The mil-spec ITW MASH hook on the sling is great! It works by pressing both of the flat sides at the same time and therefore opening the overlapping hooks which work much like a jump ring or key ring to feed over the HK styled loop of the sling plate.
Use:
I feel the single point sling offers a range of mobility and versatility that cant be had in a traditional sling. Not knocking traditional slings at all, but you cant obtain to the sort of hands free flexibility you can with a single point. You'll see this in the video!
The only thing I ran into is with some use and transition from low ready to a firing stance, the sling would sort of creep up some either towards my cheek weld or into my sight picture. It wasnt constant and with practice it was overcome.
I'll let the vid show the rest!
