In light of the increased natural disasters, and most specifically the recent outbreak of tornado's near my home that killed more than a dozen people, we are wanting to apply for either a predisaster mitigation grant or presidential declaration hazard grant through FEMA to help offset the cost of buying and installing and stocking a storm shelter and generator or solar or whatever for backup power.
From what I have found, FEMA offers up to $4000 or 75% (whichever is greater) and that would be a big help to offset the cost.
I understand that an individual can't apply for grants, but certain non-profit org's and Indian Tribal organizations can.
So I was writing to ask if anyone here has any good advice and pointers in regards to the paperwork or has any good, real world, suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
