Model 5500 auto loading shotgun

Hello.

New to the forum. Just got a Mossberg 5500 - straight up 5500, not the MK II.

I own a 9200 and have had success hunting deer with it over the years. Also have a sweet model 500 pump. But this 5500 is giving me fits.

I got the gun free because it was in pretty bad condition. There's a kid in my neighborhood who I am mentoring along with my sons in the traditions of hunting. I want to fix this gun up and give it to him as a gift.

Problem: I cannot find a manual or exploded diagram of the 5500. Everything I search is the 5500 MKII.

HELP! Please. I have written to Mossberg, called Numrich and Midwest... even checked in with Havlin. I'm stunned I can't locate a decent exploded diagram and parts list.

Thanks to anyone who can help out.

I got a manual for the 5500MK. I own one. Best $150 I've spent! Try these guys. http://www.mossbergcollectors.org/ I've dealt with them before. I have a manual for 5500mk on my desktop if you need it, but you can find it on their site.

Hi all. New to the forum but not new to Mossbergs.

Need help locating a manual or a good parts list / exploded diagram for the 5500. Not the 5500 MKII. The straight up, 5500. They only built them for one year.

I acquired it for free and am fixing it up for a kid in my neighborhood who hunts with me and my sons. I want to help him out.

If anyone can get me to a manual for this gun... I'd be delighted.

Thanks

Bob
PM me your email addy and I'll send you a manual. The 5500 is the same as the 5500MK except the MK came with two barrels.

I moved this post here and deleted the other topic, no need for 2 of the same.

Howdy njbuck023 and welcome to the club...

manuals.catalogs@mossberg.com <--- is that where you asked mossberg for it?

have you read this post?
http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=146855
"The 5500 MKII had 2 different barrels. One would only fire 2-3/4" shells. The other would also fire 3" shells and would struggle properly ejecting lighter 2-3/4" field and target loads. If this shotgun only has the 3" magnum barrel, I wouldn't buy this shotgun if you are intending on using this shotgun for a lot of clay targets with less expensive lighter load ammunition.

The newer 9200 did a much better job of cycling all size 12ga shells up to 3" dependably. The 5500 with the magnum barrel can be problematic with lighter loads from what I’ve seen. Other then that, the 5500 is in many ways and features pretty much the same shotgun as the newer 9200."

also see this site...they have a pdf of the mk2 although it's not what you had asked for. i'm pretty sure they are the same gun, with the exception that the mk2 came with 2 barrles, hence the name...
