Mossberg SA-20 Reviews...

P.S...THE GUNSMITH WAS ONE OF THOSE RIP OFF bOZO'S THAT SAID " THAT WILL BE 180$ , ALL FIXED" ...........

bRAIN,

It's the lifter - it wont allow the shell to be parallel with the tube, causing the round to "cock" slightly and hence the real hard push to get it to go in .Let me experiment more now that I know whats causing the problem . I could dremmil out the part of the lifter that is "cocking" the shall ........?

Unfortunately, these are not really fixes they are just ways to narrow down the problem. Then we look for fixes.
Good luck.

Just saw your reply. Even when normal, the lifter will not let the shell be perfectly parallel but the shell should slide down the bottom of the lifter without binding on the tube opening.
The shells went in easy with the trigger group removed?
when the lifter is down. is it flush with the bottom of the gun?
I would not remove metal from the lifter. It may not work at all.
The surfaces of the lifter have an effect on timing.
The problem I first had was the lifter not pushing in far enough to unload the mag.
See if the lifter pushes all the way down to the op rod when you try to put a shell in the mag.

What Brian said... I don't really have anything to add. Perhaps a GooToob video would help us visualize it? Good Luck!

Thanks again for the great feedback fellers........ the Gunsmith sez he had to straighten the lifter ,as it was bent . And yes, with the trigger group removed -the shells slide right in .
After the gunsmith "fixed" the problem, at least with reasonable force, I could load the mag. tube ; but I still think I have to "push" too dang hard to do so .
