Nordic extension tube questions

What is the purpose of this? Is it to hold a few more shells? If I got one for my SPX I want it to be the same length as the stock tube. I don't want it to be longer than the barrel.
 
They are more reliable than the stock tube (although mine works just fine), and they offer extended lengths over the stock tube. The stock length is a +2 I believe.

Correct with millsusaf.... +2 nordic extension will get you the same as the stock extension tube.
