This is a monthly series of questions topic for everyone to join in on the discussion. Some of the questions may have a poll, and some will not. Don't be shy now, go ahead and post an answer.

Are we on the verge of another economic collapse? Please discuss why/why not and if so, how bad do you expect it to get. Have you prepared for anything?
 
YES...we are living in the final days of this republic.

Just look around you...a great nation...a super power...diminished in the eyes of the world.

...our enemies no longer fear us...cops are being shot dead in the streets...we have porous borders making every immigrant a tax burden on the middle class, which is already overtaxed and waning...

...our socialist apologetic Muslim loving president continues to shrink our readiness by downsizing our military strength while our enemies continue to flex their muscles in the vacuum...yet gives Iran, the leading sponsor of terror, a path to a nuclear bomb and the means to launch it.

...manufacturing has all but gone overseas...things break and are not repaired or replaced...our infrastructure is crumbling...and nothing is being done to repair it.

...how many operating oil refineries do we have in the United States...?

In 1982, we had 311...as of 2008, we have 149...with no new ones being built.

Did you know that we currently only have two "old" working Ice Breaker ships...and they belong to the Coast Guard....Russia has 40...with 4 more being built.

Russia just pulled a "surprise" full strength military exercise near Alaska in the Bering Straits and Artic Ocean...meantime, the US just pulled a few thousand troops from the exact same area...

The oil and minerals under the Artic Ice Cap is under attack by Russia...who has actually planted a flag on the bottom of the Artic Ocean, right under the North Pole. ( I shit you not !! )

How am I preparing...?! Stocking up on non-perishable foods and water...have and practice emergency plans and avenues of escape...watching what happens around me and being aware and prepared...

Pulled out of the stock market and invested in Copper, Brass, and Lead...the new currency for the coming shit storm.

Ladies and Gentlemen...I give you the modern day equivalent of the Fall of the Roman Empire !!

The enemies aren't at the gates...they are inside 'em !!

All empires fall sooner or later.
Unfortunately this one is falling during my lifetime and will make my daughters life much more difficult than I had hoped for.

As for being prepared, besides lots of ammo and the mindset to protect my people and survive, that is about it.

Economic Collapse? Possible.

China's economy is going to blast the open market as the Chinese messed with their markets for years and their bubble is gonna burst. That will also make China unstable internally with possible civil upheavals.

Weird thing is that guess who's been buying up all our debt? Russia and China... so yeah who's gonna call in some money when crap goes down.

Our market has been over inflated with federal dollars being pumped in. Good and bad. Most working class citizens abandoned the market since the recession so if it crashes again you wont see much hit to people's retirement this time. But the fat cats playing the system are making hand over fist.

The commercial real estate market was a big bubble that didn't pop but did deflate. I'm wondering if a lot of the commercial real estate during a second economic down turn would become a problem in this area.

I'm doing my best to stay on top of the markets and possible future hard hits to the market. If you can stay a day ahead of the panic you can get a lot of what you need done before several things happen:

banks close/restrict withdrawals
panic buys at groceries
panic buys of ammo

speaking of which... if another democrat takes the house I'm predicting another ammogeddon/price gouge. So stock up early in 2016 before the election cycle starts to go full steam in May/June.
 
I can't believe the crap I'm reading. All Empires fall? We live in a Republic that still has a Constitution. If you lived during the Revolutionary War what year should Americans have given up? The first or second. In 1862 and 1942 we were losing. Americans didn't give up. Great Depression, Americans didn't give up. If our generation can't fix this Great Country, than our children and grandchildren will. The only enemy within is our dishonest politicians in D.C. We have elected politicians in both parties that have betrayed all of us. We can fix that. I'm proud to be an American living with Americans like you. God bless.
 
I hate to say it, but the ones that lived through all that mess are nothing like the useless scab pieces of sh*t we have living with us today. Shtf is going to happen. Just a matter of when...I dont want to think that it will be a widespread panic, butit could be more so in the big cities....
I live in the country and I know I have the support of my neighbors. There's a good amount of us "gun enthusiasts" around here. I see and hear it being practiced every weekend. I love that sound....

I hope it never comes to it...but what goes up must come down.....and we've been up for a while....
 
I don't know what to think. First, I'm not informed enough and two, I'm an eternal pessimist and this taints my judgment. I sure don't like where we are or where we seem to be going. Like ripjack13, I don't think it's as simple as bad politicians that could be outed. Votes and reforms ain't gonna cut it because the system we have is only a symptom of what we have become. We, not you or I, my friends, deserve what we have coming.
I live alone and don't have to worry about the future for my kids since I don't have any (thank God). I only prepare to be able to survive a short crisis or at least put up a decent fight if a big one hits. So I stock up on guns, ammo, mags, water, canned food and soon cash. Cash comes last because, frankly, I'm not sure it's going to be of any use in the near future. I'm in a big urban center so that may get interesting...
 
Economy/-ies comes/goes in waves! Don't worry!
Some states chrashed... maybe... but not the big systems! Your Country is "too big to fail!" For sure!
And... after darkness follows light! This is the law of nature :)
 
The economy is like an elephant in the room. You know it's there but don't know what to do about it. The whole world's economic system is in turmoil. Big banks and other world powers are manipulating things to benefit them, not us. China has been making threats and inroads to displacing the American dollar as the world currency, and, despite the latest upheaval there, is poised to do just that. If that happens, and China's currency does become the world's new currency, our dollar and economy will tank. Whether you have all your money in the banks or inside your mattress it will be next to worthless.

Of course if that happens then our society, which is already in a state of upheaval, will surely go into a tailspin as our so-called "leaders" are incapable of doing anything except stirring up the fecal matter at the bottom of the pot.

The best thing to do is build a supply of food, water and defenses. Create small pockets of citizens, hunker down and ride it out. Some "experts" say a 3-6 month supply of food and water is a must. But there will always be those that expect that and will be looking for stockpiles. Either way it will be a struggle if it happens.

Oh, yeah, watch The Walking Dead to see how it plays out... ;-)
 
Yes JimN ALL Great empires fall or did you not pay attention in history class. The world is not run by the the Greeks, the Romans nor the English anymore. New powers rise and the old powers fall.
Unfortunately as Marc, ripjack13 said, the useless scabs of today will do nothing to help right our country. They are nothing but leeches internally sucking us dry. Externaly there are countries set to destroy us financially and physically.

Everyone needs to be ready for whatever is coming our way.

I envy those that are living completely off the grid and are totally self sufficient. They will be the Meek that shall inherit the earth.
 
I wasn't thinking of SHTF, end of the Republic when I posted the question but it doesn't surprise me that so many think it could go that far. First, I don't believe that we ever ended the last economic downturn from the 2007 real estate bubble bursting. When they say it's a "jobless recovery" I don't buy into it. I think we all know that the unemployment numbers are cooked. Everything has been so twisted and artificially controlled in the global and US economies. If we had let banks/companies etc. fail in 2007 and the system to self correct I think it would be worked out by now. Since we propped it all back up and tried to re-inflate a bubble with borrowing and printing money I think it will be even worse when it gets here. I think we are headed to another great depression. I don't think that necessarily means the SHTF as I think this one will be global and everyone will tank. I do think it means lots of inflation and years until it corrects. Oh, and the more they crew around with it the longer a recovery will become.

As for economic prep, we did manage to finally pay the house off last year and the home defense supplies are better than ever. The house was great to get that ball and chain off of my neck.

Its sad to say it but parts of the Constitution are being rewritten and changed while the American people play with their electric toys designed to keep them busy so they don't pay attention to the real world. Thomas Jefferson "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants". Election are to give the American public the illusion that they are in control. The biggest problem I see for the powers to be to gain total control of USA is disarming the American people. Every week now seems there's a new staged false flag shooting designed to get the sleeping Americans to say ok enough with all the guns, "government please come help us stay safe by taking everyone's firearms away" this is what the government wants to hear from the general public but so far its not yet working. Yes there are real people killing others with guns but you more than likely don't hear about that unless its in your city from your local reporting news. Shootings that make the 3 main 24 7 new stations are more than likely a staged shooting, if you are awake and not asleep you already know these news channels are owned and controlled to tell you what they want you to know and nothing more and nothing less. If guns kill people then my keyboard and ink pen are why I misspell words. Yes we are on the verge of something that will change life as we have come to know it forever, question is WHAT and more importantly WHEN. I have been out of work for 2 1/2" years for a on the job accident so all I have is time to read, watch and gather facts and peoples opinions and come to my own thoughts as well I what I know I've learned from reading the bible as to what must come to pass. Beings I'm new to this forum and don't want to upset no one, but the main subject matter of this discussion is one of the main reasons I just purchased a Mossberg shotgun, I have a disabled wife of 20yrs. that depends on me for her safety to the best of my ability "with Gods help" and when the time comes none of us really want to live to see there will be no calling 911 because hopefully LEOs will have dropped everything to get to there families who will need them at home at this point. My God be with us and watch and aid us that live when this takes place.

Not one word has been added. Not one word has deleted. The Constitution is not being rewritten. The election of 1860 gave us Abraham Lincoln. Elections gave us the Roosevelts. In 1980 Ronald Reagan was elected. 2016 elections will start to return this great United States back to the people. The same people you believe are incompetent. Sad.

Thank you for your opinion, A better way to say this is wording of laws and amending to the Constitution to work around certain parts to fit the government's changes that are coming to America if they ever succeed in the final agenda. This is what makes America what most of it still is we can agree to disagree.

It is true it's not actually being rewritten, but it is being eroded little by little...two examples...
California...and Connecticut, where I live. They are making it far to complicated to own a weapon as well as aquire one for us law abiding fellas.
Connecticut is the un-constitution state....
