Recoil

ScottyB

.270 WIN
Went shooting trap today again with my buddies. We seem to shoot at least 3 times a month. Anyway, for the first time I brought both my 930 and 500 to shoot. I shot my 500 after shooting the 930 and noticed a crazy difference in recoil. I assume it's mainly the ported barrel and the bolt returning home that alleviates the recoil. Either way, I'm just making an observation.

The recoil is mitigated in the 930 due to the action of the firearm and the bolt cycling. The spring tube in the stock is also the reason for less recoil.

Yes Sir.

With the closed bolt on the 500 every bit of recoil energy is pushed back into your shoulder. The 930 action works as a buffer and makes a huge difference...
