Taking a cue from Dan, I've decided to include a thread highlighting the evolutions of my 590A1.

Bare bones stock.

I had added a CDM Gear MT Clamp with 3 slot rail and 1 1/4" QD push button sling swivel, EGW receiver mount picatinny rail, Bushnell 1 x 32 Trophy MP Red Dot, an ST shell cuff, and ST M1907 sling. I havent really used the red dot so thats gone from this gun and is awaiting redeployment. By far, the CMD Gear clamp, shell cuff, and sling are the best things I have added yet!

I have since gone to the Hogue OM Short (12") LOP stock and changed out the sling. I'll need to make a new shell cuff!

Since the last pic, I've added the Ergo Amidextrous Sling Plate with HK styled loops, the Ergo Tri-Rail Forend with low profile covers in conjunction with a Magpul AFG, and the Ergo Single Point Bungee sling. Should have new pics up soon!

Nice and simple! Love it. The sling is awesome. You got some talent there.

Looking forward to the new pics with the AFG. I run one on my AR but haven't thought about putting one on my 590.

I have some more info on the AFG under product reviews, but in a snapshot;
The AFG is def designed for an AR/M4 or other rifle railed platform, not for a shotgun tri-rail, (I'll expand on this under the review). The AFG2 would be the better choice here I think. I had to do some careful dremmel work to make the AFG fit the rail.

My reason for wanting to try the AFG is becuase of arthritis pain making it difficult to manipulate my hand into position sometimes to cycle the action. I'm hoping the design allows me to keep my hand in a more natural position. It definitely provides a nice gripping surface, and after shooting a little tonight, I'm thinkin its gonna work out!

This is the current set up.

Hogue OM short LOP, Ergo Ambi Sling Plate, Ergo (Botach Tactical) Single Point Bungee Sling, Ergo Tri-Rail Forend with low profile covers, Magpul AFG. I do need to get a longer stock bolt. The factory bolt is fine with the Hogue Stock, but not enough with the sling plate. I did some shooting last night and I'm guessing because I couldnt use the crush washer in the stock and therefore couldnt tighten it down enough, it allows the stock to twist slightly. The stock bolt without the washer is just barely long enough to work. I am however very pleased with the setup right now!

Brad that setup looks great! I am really liking how it all came together with the new parts.

I am too Dan, Thanks! Now I need to get out and get some more serious shooting done.

Thanks oli! Anyone else wanna post their evolutions, what you've tried and what youre using?

That AFG looks pretty good on there! I can see where it would help. If I ever get a railed forend I might have to switch my AFG from the AR and try it out on the 590.

Thank you Goose! I may be able to do more shooting this weekend, its supposed super nice!

Only thing, if you wanna use an AFG with a shotgun rail, I recommend the AFG2. You wont run into the issues with having to dremmel or file down the tabs that stick up on the sides of the first gen AFG.

Thanks for the tip. What's the difference between the original and AFG2? I just realized a couple days ago that they had a second one out.

The AFG gen 1 has tabs like ears that come up on each side which works fine with an AR/M4 forend rail because the rail is deeper from top to bottom. The shotgun rail isnt as deep because the it only covers the mag tube, making the ears/tabs hit the rails on each side before it even begins to seat. It wont slide on at all, or at least not on the Ergo railed forend. The AFG2 is narrower in design and doesnt have the tabs sticking up at all, it will slide onto a shotgun rail without modification.

I've got pics of the differences in the two AFG versions in one of the threads here.
It may be in the 930 forum or the Aimpro. I believe it is in one of the threads on the Aimpro rail though.

590 Trigger Jobs??

Hey guys was looking for some info on 590 Trigger Jobs, spring replacement kits?

I have 4 590s for 3 gunnin and 2 of the triggers are Okay. 2 just suck, 8 pound pull??

Any info would help before I have to send them away for expensive trigger jobs.

Thanks
Sam

Re: 590 Trigger Jobs??

If you aren't running all four at once, pull the trigger assemblies from the two good ones and temporarily swap them into the bad ones!!!! :D :D :D

Keed. I'm keeding. Hope you find some answers here about how to fix your dilema. I've no idea but I had to come on and be an early morning smartass.

I was thinking that as well.

I know Timney makes some drop in parts for the Rem 870 but I've not seen anything for Mossberg.

Re: 590 Trigger Jobs??

M24 on here has sent his to AIMPRO to have work done. I dont how it worked with trigger pul though...

Re: 590 Trigger Jobs??

I did. Mike did a GREAT job on mine.
The trigger pack on the 590 is an interesting little critter, with some strange little parts. Playing with some of them can make the shotgun unsafe. It would be better to send it to Mike and let him do the work for you.
Mine is very smooth, and has a nice break. I don't remember what the pull is. But remember, the 590 is intended as a duty gun, so it isn't going to have a very light trigger to begin with. Not to say you can't get it light, just that that isn't going to be what OFM is thinking when they build it.
