We all know that Mossberg bores are bit rough-and-tough. We've tried the steel wool trick in the past and got what we paid for: not much.
Today we experimented with the Flex-Hone system from Brush Research. We are very impressed with the quality of this company. Their firearms products were developed from the real business- industrial scale metal working.
The bore brushes come in three (3) sizes and three (3) grits. Chamber, forcing cone and bore. The grits are 180, 400 and 800. The 800 grit alone produced the best results. The forcing cone brush seems like an unnecessary half-step. The bore brush will pull double duty on the bore and forcing cone. The chamber brush pulls double duty on the chamber as well as the magazine tube.
The results are impressive. By far the best I've seen with Mossberg. They're not Benelli chrome-lined quality, but the pictures speak for themselves. This is after the forcing cone brush, and before the bore brush.
