Trudeau said he's banning all handguns in Canada

You mean, like an excuse for them to do it?

I don't know. Maybe just because "it's Monday" or maybe it's just because he's a dumbass and is trying to outdumbass the other politician is all the excuse or reason that they need?

Maybe because trudeau learned today from biden that 9mm will blow your lung completely out of your body while 22 stays in it and is safer? And biden doubled down on the stupid about not being able to own cannons during the Revoluationary war again?

I don't know.

I just chalk it out to the whores of babylon prostituting themselves out to whoever pays them the most money to do their bidding.

Trudeau is trying to milk the two recent shootings in the US. I'm sure he is trying to advance his socialist agenda before getting booted from office.
Give that man a cigar!!
Did something happen recently in Canada to trigger such legislation?
Not specifically beyond what John said above...it's Monday or Tuesday...or whatever.

I can't adequately express in words what I feel these days. With all the personal/family stuff going on I don't have much headspace for that nitwit of an excuse for a piece of skin. To anyone without their own small minds shoved firmly up their backsides it's obvious what's happening. To the rest of us it's just another day of being publicly flogged for the sport of elitist nincompoops with delusions of dictatorship.

Handgun transfers, sales and imports to be halted on the passing of this latest piece of crap that's supposed to resemble legislation. (Essentially a ban by attrition. They won't have to "buy back" a single gun they will have to be surrendered on death...they are registered, so they know where they are.) Along with a permanent magazine cap at 5rds max for ALL long guns...does it mean having to alter fixed internal mags as well you ask...that's a question we don't have the answer too but I wouldn't doubt they expect guys to butcher their classics......just cuz they are a-holes of the highest magnitude. There's also red flag BS in there, new penalties for altering mag capacity, etc. Just more "new" laws to confuse the ones already in existence. But, "you can't pose somberly and take credit for old laws" (credit to a reddit/canadaguns user for that one)

As with Obama...Turdo is the greatest gun salesman in Canada's history. Gun stores are out of stock everywhere, hardly a pistol to be found anywhere....and so it should be....screw you JT.

Compliance will be hard to avoid for the registered owners of restricted firearms (handguns, AR's & others)...if the horse-cops come knocking they don't need a warrant. For those with legal, unregistered, non-restricted arms (long guns) compliance with the coming "buy back" is guaranteed to be abysmal. Compliance during the last long gun registry was also a failure by any measure and it will only be worse this time around. They have recently enacted a shadow registry (which they said they wouldn't...wow they lied...whodathunkit?), requiring dealers to keep records of all non-restricted gun sales for 20 years and all sales and transfers have to be run through the CFP to verify the license of the buyer. Apparently, no firearm info is collected. However, we have already heard reports of questions being asked by the call takers regarding make and model of the firearm being transferred. Guys are just hanging up and calling back and getting the approval without extra questions most of the time. Apparently, the online license verification portal does not collect firearm data at this time. Most of us expect that will change shortly.

Private transfers of non-restricted firearms (long guns) still require the seller to verify the buyer's license with the CFP, exposing the seller's information to potential identity theft. Completing a private sale (transfer) without verifying the license of the buyer is now an offense under the criminal code. So, you give up your license info to a stranger and trust they are a straight shooter or just don't purchase. I'm sure they're counting on a reduction in private sales by folks that are cautious or like me, have been through identity theft. I won't divulge my license info to a stranger period rather than have some gangbanger attempt to use my info to purchase guns illegally? Nope.

So in short, for gun owners things in Canuckistan are pretty sucky right now.

You have a lot of lakes and a lot of boats up there in Canada so there is that. :) Sorry to hear of your plight... :( What would happen if some horse boys got wacked by some patriots during a raid? (asking for a Canadian friend ;) )

Oh and if anyone is STILL wondering...when gun grabbers say "Hey man, we don't want to take your guns..." what they really mean is "We really want to take your guns...all of them."

I bet china is just sitting there grinning and rubbing their little yellow hands together contemplating how awesome it would be for the bulk of the entire North American continent to disarm itself to follow along the good little socialists in South America.

It not only makes your homes, and communities more dangerous, but weakens the entire country.

The military can only ever do so much. But these people are not fools. They're getting paid to push an agenda and are enemies of the state.

If they can sit there and call us domestic terrorists, I think we should be honest with ourselves and call them what they are too.

I was trolling (busting balls) of some wienie at another platform about if certain guns are banned here in the US. He was thinking like 80-90% compliance and I'm like "sorry, I doubt we would see more than 10% compliance". At least in my neck of the woods. We are NOT UK, AU or NZ...

Maybe OT and thinking out loud, but what if the TX shooter had shot up the invaders at the border instead of some kids. Sort of like what many other countries do to border-crossers as policy. Left them floating face down in the Rio. What would the outcry be? I KNOW it would certainly be a deterrent to the rest of them. One of my senators is talking "path to citizenship" and I told him ANY path better begin OUTSIDE the country--ie. they need to GO BACK to where they came from. Promised him I wouldn't vote for his opposition this Nov. because she is a loathesome, indecent person, BUT my vote for you is not a given...

Quite right, it's ALWAYS about agendas. Not public safety. Never has been, never will be.

It has always been about civil disarmament. There are the misguided masses who buy into the BS rhetoric of a few persuasive, powerful people and then parrot the party line without ever really considering the facts.

This injects some humor into the nonsense but is very on point....

My estimate is that since California started restricting the importation of firearms, that illegal firearms manufacturing and smuggling here has risen by 10 times.

This however is only based on the fact that there is now 10 times as much talk about all this.

Once Canada quits allowing their citizens to have legal guns, they’re going to be in the same situation as Mexico, with smuggling going across the border day and night.

I remember how ridiculously easy it was to go from the United States to Canada and back.

Very true Cadd, there's already a very healthy, black market for firearms in Canada. As legal handguns dry up over the ensuing decades (provided we don't reverse this nonsense) that market will swell.

I read just recently that smugglers are now employing drones to bring guns into the country. Michigan into Ontario I think it was last I heard. So much wide open, unpatrolled border that moving guns or drugs across isn't that tough for motivated smugglers. That said, it amazes me how often large quantities of guns are caught at land crossings...seems just stupid and lazy when you have thousands of miles of opportunities with no border patrol. Guess no one said criminals weren't lazy and not very smart...LOL!

Whether we ever get to the stage of a total ban on all firearms...I kinda doubt it but Turdo seems poised to outdo the UK, AU & NZ so who knows?

American kids used to go into Canada and poach game and bring it back in an aluminum boat.

Nobody was stopping them as far as I know.

How did we celebrate graduation day at high school? After people turned in their cap and gown we piled into a fishing boat and went to Ontario for beer.

Then we went out on the Lake of the Woods and fished until we ran out of beer. I’m sure we caught at least twice the legal limit. I’m not sure that any of us had a license.

We went down the Rainy River on our senior class canoe trip. I’m sure we crossed the Canadian border a dozen times.

There is a whole lot of wilderness and 1 million tiny islands around Lake of the Woods.

They say Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes. And 100,000 ponds. It’s pretty hard to track a couple guys across that with a canoe.

I keep thinking of this episode of the series "Shameless" where the father (I forget the character's name) played by W.F. Macy is a "coyote" bringing a number of "illegals" up into Canada. This was just a random episode I happened to watch but I think it ends with a chase by Mounties or something and he gets away.
