Crap...I was camping and missed this. Great news indeed!
I don't know if Venezuela ever joined the treaty, but they disarmed their citizens in 2012. I think they are wishing they had weapons, other than rocks, at this time.
They are a perfect example of why we have the 2nd.

But Venezuela is just another name in that long list of other examples. Too many to for me to list over the millennia.
In honesty, this happens with each example.
There are a few that hasn't happened (yet) but it will. Tensions have been rising in Europe. England and France have been having a terrible time with muslims. It's just a matter of time there too. Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean that it won't. History shows otherwise.
Anyone would be foolish to disarm for anyone or any reason.
