Replace Forend add Action Slide Tube on a 500

OK....
I have a new 20" 500 and am interested in replacing the Forend.
I've picked up bits and pieces of info but haven't found it all in one place.

The Action Arms on my Fore are not removable.
To replace the Fore, I need to get an Action Slide Tube and a retaining nut.
Do I get a 7 5/8" Action Slide Tube?

The replacement Forend goes over the Action Slide Tube and is held on by the nut?

THANKS
KFN

Both sizes of action tube will fit the gun. The deciding factor is what your new forend wants to fit on. Just make sure the forend and the action tube are the same and you should be good to fit to the gun.

Ok...starting to get it.
Many of the Forends just say "Long" or "Short" or they say they are 8"

I'm leaning towards a Speedfeed LE or Choate Fiberglass 8"
Any opinions on these?

I'm looking for a no frills solid setup.
Starting to realize I might have been better off with a 590 but I didn't want the Bayonet Lug and the extra weight of the metal trigger guard.

You have just what you wanted but had bad luck of the draw getting the forend you did. I have only seen one 500 with that lame forend, the rest have the normal one with the action tube.
