Mossberg 185 bolt issue

I have a Mossberg model 185k bolt action 20 ga. shotgun.I got from my dad and it was missing the bolt.I recently accquired a bolt assembly for it,but when I try to close the bolt handle it will not close. if I take the bolt head apart and leave the head off it locks in place with no issues? Any suggestions?

I will venture a guess that you got the wrong bolt or maybe a bolt head is for another caliber/gauge? Try taking a 20ga, 12ga and .410 shells if you have them and see how they fit up against the bolt with it out of the gun.
