223 / 5.56 buffer specs

A bit of a long story.
I bought an ATI stock that came with a complete buffer tube, spring and buffer.

The spring shrunk to around ten inches within a few 100 rounds (compressed permanently)

I ordered a replacement spring from Primary Arms and taking a beating from my new AR build (recoil) yes I said Recoil !

Pretty sure the cheapo spring and buffer were to blame, the nose of the buffer was flattening from bottoming out in the tube.

Any way the spring arrived today only to find that the new spring wont seat onto the neck of the buffer.

The collar on the buffer is .8 and the spring is only .75 ID ?

The buffer tube measures out to be mil spec so...

anyone else run into oversized buffers ? or is the "Anderson" spring from primary arms wrong ?
