An old friend of mine makes custom rifles for a select few in the South Bay Area of California. I was talking to him last week and asked if he would make a rifle for me, the answer was yes! He asked what I wanted and I told him the calibers I had and he said how about a 338-06. I said absolutely, what a great caliber! He has the barrel stock, mauser action and custom laminate stock in the shop to make one. Maybe in a couple of weeks I'll have the new rifle.
Can't wait to start working up loads for the new gun. Just amazing how fast you can shoot a heavy bullet with the 338-06 caliber. I can tell already, it will turn out to be one of my favorite rifles, and I have a few!
