500C receiver

Just picked up my first Mossberg, a 500C. The wood is in pretty good condition, but the bluing is all gone and has spotty surface rust. I understand the receiver is aluminum. Looking for suggestions on how to refinish the receiver.

I have an 835, which is also aluminum. I sand blasted it and painted it with CereKote. It's kind of a long process but the end result is nice. I wanted something other than a blued finish.

MikeD, did you leave the safety on the receiver or take it off? I read that it is difficult to remove even though it looks simple.

I completely stripped the receiver. The safety is not that bad once you know how everything is supposed to go back together. You need to remove the trigger group to get the internal lever back into place.
