This past weekend, I was out shooting with a friend. I had my 88, and he had his 500. His action slide was noticeably smoother. It didn't bother me at all, but I watched a youtube video on stripping my 88 in preparations to clean it and the guy in the video mentioned the "smoothness complaint" for 88's. He said if you use some brasso and polish your internals, then the gun becomes as smooth as a 500 or an 870.
