T&Ps go out to the F&F of the dead and injured.
In ANY incident like this (SC incident for example), the murderer should not be named, EVER! And if named, the name will be a pseudonym such as "Chattanooga POS" and "Charleston POS".
In the case of Chattanooga, the apprehending LEO were successful in their mission, IMO, taking down the suspect so he was no longer a threat...ever! In the Charleston case, even though they were not in the same jurisdiction, they still failed. By failure, I mean they had complete trigger control and did not let the trigger finger "slip", as in "oops, my trigger finger slipped and I accidentally shot the 'suspect'".
I'm not a LEO so I couldn't speak to the situation but knowing that I was apprehending someone that had just killed 9 people, I couldn't help to think of the "good" that would be done by finishing him--the closure for the victim's families, the million$ saved in legal fees and court costs, the tens of thousand$ saved in housing and guarding him, and so on... I know it would be cold-blooded and punishable, especially if there were witnesses. The same goes for the wacko in the theater in CO, who we are still hearing about
.
I just thought of the POS in OH (Cleveland?) that kidnapped the women for decades, was captured, went to jail, then was "helped" with suicide by COs (I assume). Perhaps the COs in SC will "help" the Charleston POS with his suicide?
although I'd rather see him put in general population...
