Colonel, we're def keeping an eye on the situation as things get more restrictive.
The things you mention I can def see happening if more folks dont wake up to what appears to be European styled socialism, though the way it looks sometimes, its even uglier... like marxism or even facism.
I had thought for some reason, Canada was moving towards fewer restrictions.
Well the current government is trying to scrap the long gun registry. That includes all NON restricted firearms (bolt gun, shotguns, rimfire[minus AR varients], ect). BUT as it goes with most governments, all of the liberals that think guns are evil are dead against it. They say if it happens crime rates will skyrocket, blah blah blah.
Apparently if it does get scrapped, Ontario (my province) and Quebec (hated by everyone anyways) are going to be creating there own registry system. yay
Either way, that doesn't change the structure of how firearms are classified in Canada.
It's just a MAJOR piss off that an AR that meets ALL of our non-restricted requirements (18"+ barrel, and greater than the minimum over all length requirement), is still restricted due to the way it "looks"! It is just plain messed up.
Being restriced means, no hunting with it, can only be transported being locked (and un-loaded like all other classes) in a locked case, and can ONLY be fired at a licensed range, never on private property.
Plus all semi-auto centerfire rifle magazines are pinned to 5 rounds.
