Installing a LimbSaver on the Mossberg 590A1 51518 speedfeed

This is my journey to install a LimbSaver on my Model 51518 with Davis Company M500 Speedfeed stock.

I'll admit the LimbSaver 10031 wasn't my first try, but why give you the model #'s that didn't fit . I feel the 10031 is going to be the best fit, but let yourself be the judge from the pictures below.

Stock 10031

You need to sand the block smooth first

Elongate the bottom hole toward the bottom of the buttpad, the longer the better it will fit

The bottom is the worst of the fit, it over hangs just a tad, but is minimal on the gun, you can center the pad more if you want to try to elongate the hole more, I was fine with the fit

The sides overhang a tiny bit

Top

Overall it looks just fine on the gun, and I expect it to be a big improvement over the stock hard rubber pad. I hope this helps someone. -Jim

Nice pics and thanks for posting it. I have a Limbsaver on a 51411 with a Hogue 12" LOP stock. It had a gap at the bottom (like one of your pictures) until I add the 1" thick pad back to the stock. Nice fit now.

The Limbsaver works as advertised!

I wish I would have seen your post prior to purchasing the model that I did. I got the 10201, but it was not for the Speed Feed stock. I'll send it back and get the model you suggested. Are you still happy with your choice?

Thanks for the info for the speedfeed limbsaver project.
Got a speedfeed myself, but haven't put it on any gun just yet and I was thinking about adding a limbsaver on it to use when i do decide to install it, and now I know which one to look for instead of trial and error and hope I find one that fits.
Makes it an easier project to do now....

I called Limbsaver directly and they suggested model 10121 for the Speed Feed stock. That model should fit with no modifications. I have ordered it and will post comment and pix once I receive and install.

I cut down the standard Mossberg stock by 1 3/8" to fit that same 10121 Limbsaver, and while it doesn't fit perfectly... it certainly gets the job done. I want Hogue to come out with a 13" LOP stock and call it a day... cause that length hits the sweet spot for me

I finally received my Limbsaver model 10121 and I'm ready to give it a try..

Limbsaver 10121 is built with the perfect dimensions to fit, but the bottom screw hole is slightly off. I had to increase/lower the screw hole one full drill bit. As you can see from the paper template, the screw hole needs to be lower.



I probably didn't drill the hole perfect so I'm off slightly, but I think it worked great.



Now time to test how it feels!!

Shot my Mossy with the newly installed Limbsaver for the first time today since I put it on. It felt awesome!! I shot 75 x birdshot rounds and 10 x 00 Buck and did NOT feel a thing!! I shot 3 x Birdshot through my friend's Mossy without the Limbsaver and I felt every shot from his.
