J.C. Higgins model 31

Just got J.C. Higgins model 31 in was trying to do a bill of sell on it but cant find a serial number on it any body know where it might be or if it has one if not how to do a bill of sale on it.

As I understand it, firearms were not required to be stamped with serial numbers until the Gun Control Act of 1968 so I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't have one.

Pre 1968, serial numbers were not a federal requirement and may not have one.

just FWIW, JC Higgins was a generic manufacturer under the Sears label and were made by various major manufacturers.

My wife inherited a JC Higgins 410 shotgun that is rather unique, but it is made by marlin, which had a very similiar model number for their rollmark.
