"Loose" forend on 500's

Just bought a new 500 12ga Field, still waiting to pick it up, but have read where the forend on the 500 wood models are loose and rattle a bit. Can someone explain that? I'm only going to be using it for upland birds and trap. So, any concerns or nothing to worry about? Thanks guys.

Usually nothing to worry about. There is some play in how the forend is attached to the slide rails and then again to the action. This is by design and makes for long life of the moving parts. You should have an overall positive experience with that model.
