Here is a bunch of photos and info from the recent Marine Special Operations Command testing of various handguns with emphasis on the winning submission. The Colt 1911 rail gun.

I'll just be honest, I always liked the 1911, but the frame and slide cracking so frequently in the testing is a concern to me.

I know it's a somewhat older test, but I just wanted to discuss.

Colt has had a lot of problems in the past few years (financial, management, etc. ) that bleed over into the product. I don't know if they've resolved those problems, but as of Nov last year they were in big trouble. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...fense-searches-for-financing-as-default-looms . Also, I think they've dropped the move to FL. http://www.aroundosceola.com/?p=14210

I haven't heard of any recent problems with the CQBP the Corps bought, so the initial issues were probably fixed. Just don't know.

I'd hate to see the company go out of business, or get bought up by some foreign company, but it is a distinct possibility.
