A local couple was killed in a car accident leaving behind orphaned children.

A local Indian tribe claims the children are Native Americans of their tribe. The federal government gives them the right to guardianship. Meanwhile another fellow is claiming that he is the real chief of this tribe, & the current tribal leaders are a bunch of imposters.

DNA tests were done, because of the tribes claim, and as it turns out the "tribe" are all descendants of Hawaiians and some totally different Indian tribe from up North.

The Orphans, on the other hand, are part descendants of some South American Indian tribes. They have other relatives who are not tribe members taking care of them currently.

I have not yet heard if the potential "real" chief of this tribe has submitted to a DNA test.

Anyhow, at stake is the title of sovereign governance and a 240 acre parcel of sovereign tribal land PLUS an Indian Casino (which until recently held luaus and had waitresses wearing Grass skirts.)

Somebody pass the poi?

Maybe that's Liz Warrens tribe.

Phauxkahontas?

Well we really can't be surprised, that when you start giving out bonuses to people for being black or native American Or hispanic, that people will start to fake being black or native American Or hispanic.

BUT...

When you go to law school, and the first thing you do is lie about who you are to get yourself admitted, well the whole BS about being an officer of the Court kind of comes undone.

Warrens' good character was blemished before it was ever inspected.

We had another crazy case where a local Indian Casino was closed down by the feds after violent factions of a local tribe attempted to go to war over the management of this tribal casino.

Eventually it was resolved and the casino reopened.

While they were digging up the foundations for a new expansion they discovered some ancient bones.

Just the week before native Americans had been seriously up in arms about disturbing ancient burial grounds to build that oil pipeline up north.

But on this occasion the NAs were trying to sweep the whole thing under the rug.

After all time is money, and casino managers don't have the time to wait around on their construction projects while archaeologists determine the DNA of some very stone-age peoples.

And of course the most horrible thing would be if it was discovered that those bones were from a different tribe and at this casino was built on the land of a different tribe and therefore forfeit to them as part of their Sovereign Nation.

Which is sort of what they just went through with the different warring factions of the tribe.

Anyhow their project went on and nothing more was ever said about it in the newspaper.
