I bought a mossberg 5500 basket case and I have found an extra spring. This spring is approximately 1 1/2 inch long and big enough to go easly over the mag tube if so where?

I haven't shot it but it appears and feels ejects and cycles like it should This spring I think its called a recoil spring. This is the first I have seen this size and it is strong. i have checked the model 9200 I have and theres not 1 this size. My 9200 has syn forearm with an insert above the gas chamber its a filler I think for the forearm to fit. Thanks John
