Mossberg 835 Tactical

Copper BB
Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I'm also new to my Mossbert 835 shotgun. I recently purchased the gun with a Knoxx stock, and an Ulti-Mag 3.5" chambered smooth-bore barrel. Before I bought it, the owner sawed the 28" barrel down to the legal federal limit of 18". My question is if I can shoot rifled slugs from the gun. It says on the side "not for use with slugs"; however, the barrel has been cut down 10". Is the choke usually only located in the last few inches of the barrel, or in the entire barrel tapered? Will I be able to shoot rifled slugs or will this be a safety hazard?

Here are the specs:
Mossberg Model 835 "Ulti-Mag" 12 GA
28" "Accu-Mag" choke

Welcome to the forum from NY and congrats on your"new to you" Mossy.
You can shoot rifled slugs from your smooth bore cut barrel. You are correct,,,the choke is gone.
