The Model 9200A1 12 gauge Autoloading Shotgun was originally developed for counter-drug duty in the jungles of Colombia and is the first semi-automatic shotgun designed expressly for the US Military. The US Government provides a "Mil-Spec" which identifies the precise specifications relative to the finished product that must be met. These can include, but are not limited to, certain lengths, weights, materials, finishes, performance demands and testing procedures. The Mossberg Model 9200A1 is the only brand autoloader shotgun to pass all of the requirements and final tests.
Two important facts about the 9200A1 model:
1) The barrel and other components are not interchangeable with the Sporting Model 9200.
2) The gas system is specifically designed to handle 'standard velocity commercial 12 gauge, 2 3/4" buckshot (9 pellets) maximum load cartridges, conforming to SAAMI standards' (the 9200A1 is not intended for magnums or light loads).
Features Include:
Gas operated; 12 gauge, autoloader shotgun; 18 1/2" barrel with bead sight, cylinder bore fixed choke; 4-round magazine tube capacity (4+1 with 2 3/4" shells); empty weight 7 3/4 lbs; 39" O/A length; Parkerized steel finish, hard-coat anodized aluminum trigger housing, safety button and receiver; black synthetic stock and forend.
