Hi, everybody. I'm a new member from central Missouri. I can't express how thankful I am for this forum and living in a day and age where such information is shared so freely and accessibly! I just purchased my first Mossy, a 590A1 (53693) and am STILL waiting for it to come in at my local dealer (actually the source of much frustration at the moment).

I can't wait to get my hands on it and put it through its paces. I'm not new to firearms, but this is the first shotgun I will own, and I couldn't be more excited. I waffled a lot between an 870 and 590, but I'm pretty sure I made the right decision. Or at least the right first decision. :D

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better as I gain experience, but right now I'm struggling to find a question that hasn't already been answered! I'm sure I'll come up with something when I've actually been able to put rounds down-range.

Thanks again for such a great resource!

Welcome from MI!

Both are solid platforms but glad to see you ended up with the 590. :D

Welcome aboard and congrats on the incoming 590a1!

We've got a great group of folks here on Mossberg Owners and the atmosphere is very laid back. The only thing we like better than discussing each other's guns is lookin at 'em, so be sure to post up some pics of the 'a1' when it arrives and any other firearms you own the various sub-forums. You'll find that we're into a lot more than just Mossberg around here. Let us know if you come up with any questions.

Enjoy the site!

I think he means that everything so far has already been covered, and he has no question at present...

Welcome aboard! We're glad you found one of the best gun boards on the net and wanted to join us! We're a lot of fun and there are some really smart fellers and ladies here plus some pretty dumb ones like me. Don't think this place is just about shotguns, though! If it's firearms related, we're interested, whether it's .22 plinkers or GLOCKs or 1911 pistols or custom AR15s all the way up to .50 BMG rifles!!!!!!

Thanks for all the kind words of welcome, folks!

Here's a question: what's a reasonable amount of time for me to wait for my usual dealer to get the model I ordered in stock? Is supply really this constrained, or is he working to maximize margin more than appropriate? I placed the order two days before Christmas. Patience is not my strong suit.

It just depends on the dealer.

Most local shops have to go through a distributor or wholesaler and often do not get their inventory directly from the manufacturer. The process can take some time, especially during the busy holiday season. I know how you feel though. Time seems to go by exponentially slower when you're wait'n on a firearm...

Man, isn't that the truth! Worse part is, this is a return of a gun my wife bought me that didn't "fit," so they have payment-in-full! Nothing worse than parting with the dough with nothing to show for it. I feel like I just left a casino!

I once had to wait eight months for a manufacturer to repair a factory defective 1911 just so I could get it back and sell it to fund a replacement. Waiting is never fun, but that REALLY sucked!

Roessletb - welcome from the 'Lou! Central MO has some great terrain and shooting locations. :D

aha..my bad...read it wrong...

Welcome to the site. My dealer say they have to order all years inventory in November. Don't know if that bull or not. Hope you get it soon and again welcome.

I apologize, I am WAY late sayin hi!

Hi, how ya doin! I think you made a great choice in firearms! My 590A1 is my favorite among my shotguns!

I would expect everybit oif a week, + time due to the holidays, and... firearms are seeing HUGE sales right now. People cant get them fast enough, nor can they keep certain things in stock, like your shotgun for example.

I would think and hope by the end of this week though...

I too hate having to wait for firearms.

Still waiting. My dealer said things might loosen up after ShotShow. If they don't, I'm going to have to insist on a refund and see what else I can find, but I sure wish I wouldn't have to settle for a different gun than the one I selected!
