New Mossberg on the way

I just ordered my 50127 Mossberg 500 Flex Field and Security combo. Should have it in a week. I have been reading some of the posts here and have some questions as both a Mossberg and shotgun NooB....

Sounds like its recommened that the gun be cleaned and lubed before use.
To what level should it be disassembled?
What method of cleaning?
What and where and how should i lube?

I have looked at some videos as well as the disassembly thread here already.

Any chemicals that should be avoided with these synthetic, camo stocks???
Tnx

Welcome to the forum from NY and congrats on your "soon to be" Mossy.

Mossberg likes to ship their shotguns a bit dirty. Follow the disassembly vid and get to know your gun.

There are many cleaning products out there. I use good ole Hoppes solvent and oil.

After cleaning it up give a lite oil to the inards and barrel.

Stay away from any acetone type chemicals near the synthetic stuff.

Here's a pic to help you ID some of the parts........

I would NOT take the trigger assembly apart. Maybe a light cleaning.

Worth repeating. You can clean it with degreaser and re-oil it if necessary but unless you really know what you are doing, it is best left intact.

In a lifetime of shooting I've never disassembled nor had the need to disassemble a shotgun trigger assembly.
