Problem with a 5500 Mark II

I just joined this forum. I have several Mossberg 22's. I acquired a 5500 Mark II and took it to the range last week. Couldn't get it to fire. It just went click. Checking the hammer after the click, the hammer doesn't come close to striking the firing pin. It looks like the bolt is not getting into battery. any ideas on how to fix this?

I don't know. I was hoping some could give me some hints.
