Sequester

I really hope the sequester and the gun ban bill will backfire on the Dems. They'll be defending 21 Senate seats in 2014, some of which are in pro-2A states. There is a good chance they could lose control of the Senate.

When you combine this with their sincere belief that they are doing what is best for the country, you're looking at a true monster. It allows them to perpetrate anything without any qualms whatsoever.

When you put these with a media who, through complacency or collusion, is willing to go to any lengths to feed the monster and win its favor you have an even larger problem. I've recently been studying the work of B.F. Skinner......his theories on the absense of a Freudian-type "subconscious psyche" controlling human behavior and the emphasis on behaviors being the direct result of conditioned responses are interesting when observing the world around us. I think we are seeing the results of a decades long conditioning program in this country......scary stuff.

"It is a mistake to suppose that the whole issue is how to free man. The issue is to improve the way in which he is controlled" -B.F. Skinner

I'm familiar with Skinner's work. Smart guy. You might also be interested in this:

That said, I don't agree with everything he says, but it is an interesting read. Don't get turned off by the first few pages. :)

Federal money grab is on, rural schools hit

Forest Service Chief Thomas L. Tidwell sent letters to 41 states telling them they need to repay $15.6 million disbursed in January under the Secure Rural Schools Act, which since 2000 has sent billions of dollars to 700 rural counties to make up for reductions in federal logging revenues due to fish and wildlife protections. The top recipients have been Oregon, California and Washington.

Oregon history in a nut shell, years and years ago when the land was being divided up the federal government struck a deal with the state on timber. The taxes off the timber cut on every section 16 and 36 went directly to schools.
So when the tree huggers took the feds to court and won over the spotted owl and other things, killing thousands of jobs and millions to the schools, the feds compensated the promised timber tax dollars…..sounds like they want it back at the expense of an already struggling school system, probably big county lay offs around the corner

Marines told to conserve ammo & gas

Yes, this is serious (not a parody or spoof) http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/20 ... ?hpt=hp_t3

Yep. And while this 'conservation' push is on-going, so is the administrations push to switch planes and ships to "Biofuel" at 4 times (or more) the price of petroleum. Google Navy or Airforce Biofuel to see how screwed up this administration is.

And on top of that is higher fuel costs for ordinary vehicles in the name of 'emissions' control, which will impact everyone, including the military. Apparently the "law of diminishing returns" is unknown to the EPA.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Reducing sulfur in gasoline and tightening emissions standards on cars beginning in 2017, as the Obama administration is proposing, would come with costs as well as rewards. The cost at the pump for cleaner air across the country could be less than a penny or as high as 9 cents a gallon, depending on who is providing the estimate.

An oil industry study says the proposed rule being unveiled Friday by the administration could increase gasoline prices by 6 cents to 9 cents a gallon. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates an increase of less than a penny and an additional $130 to the cost of a vehicle in 2025.

The EPA is quick to add that the change aimed at cleaning up gasoline and automobile emissions would yield billions of dollars in health benefits by 2030 by slashing smog- and soot-forming pollution. Still, the oil industry, Republicans and some Democrats have pressed the EPA to delay the rule, citing higher costs.

Environmentalists hailed the proposal as potentially the most significant in President Barack Obama's second term.

The so-called Tier 3 standards would reduce sulfur in gasoline by more than 60 percent and reduce nitrogen oxides by 80 percent, by expanding across the country a standard already in place in California. For states, the regulation would make it easier to comply with health-based standards for the main ingredient in smog and soot. For automakers, the regulation allows them to sell the same autos in all 50 states.
