I installed a Ergo sling plate on my 590.
Question is, should I get a longer stock bolt? The factory one was tight in only a couple turns(if that)

Have you tried taking off the washer on the bolt and see if that helps?
Just make sure it dosen't make it too long.

Maybe. You need to remove the trigger and see how far in the bolt is. It should be 'close' to flush (not really flush, as the receiver is angle cut).

As Old Mossy said, removing washers from the bolt is a fast way to 'lengthen' it. Be careful, as you may put too much stress when the hex head meets the stock, and you may need to apply threadlocker as well.

A bolt that is too long will run into the safety bar on the trigger.
