One of our members suggested we need a thread on wood furniture on your firearms.

Well here's the place to post up some pics and stories of the "old style" furniture.

Guess i'll start it off with my 500A.,,,,,,,
I decided after 25 years i'm shrinking or my mossy is growing. I needed to shorten the LOP.
liking the wood stock I decided to "chop some wood".
I used my 10"miter saw,100 tooth blade.

It started out with a 14" LOP and I was looking for a 13". I made two cuts, about 1/2" each.
Put on a limbsaver and wound up with 13" on the button.(the reason for 2 cuts,JIC i need a spacer)
The smallest limbsaver still fits good and tight.
edit: forgot to mention, measure butt angle for "0" pitch. that's factory before cutting.

Some pics of the process,,,,,
the original butt stock,,,,

after the cuts,,,,

end result,,,,,

,,,,looking forward to seeing more "wood" mods and refinishes. :)

Mossy, I've never seen a wood stock with adjustable LOP... pretty sweet!

A little mahogany stain, a butane torch and some linseed oil! I pretty much give the same treatment to all my wood stocks.. they gotta match :D

Scottie....I have to ask. What's with the strobe light?

Sorry for the late reply.

It was something a friend gave me just a collector piece being that particular model is somewhat rare. I don't have it any more. I ended up selling it too a friend who kept begging me to sell it to him.

I have a 500A but not sure what year it was made. I want to remove the collapsible stock and foreend and go back to wood. A buddy emailed me saying he has an older wood set if I'm interested and I think mine is less than a year old.

Thanks,

Chris

,,,,sounds like a good plan Chris.

don't forget the pics when you get it set up. :D

Will do, I'll post pics.

I forgot to ask my question...will any year furniture fit and year gun? My serial number starts with a "T" and the furniture is from a 2000.

the stock will fit with no problem.

the forend depends on which lengths they are.
