Washington State jumping on the ban wagon

Yep, you read it correctly. A bill was submitted yesterday that would prohibit the sale/transfer of so called assault weapons in washington state, and would also allow the sheriff to do a compliance check in gun owners homes once a year.

Sadly, there are several manufacturers that would be affected by this.

Olympic Arms, Mega, and Aero Precision just to name a few.

Olympic and Aero also makes receivers for various other companies too, so this would not just affect these three.

Aero makes receivers for PSA, Spikes, Surplus Ammo and Arms, Olympic has made them for NUMEROUS other companies over the years as well.

Here's the link for the entire bill if you can stomach reading it:

The storm is building. Were only seeing the beginning.

I'm not sure where to begin with this one; the compliance check is particularly disturbing

Speechless.....I'm just bill yes I'm only a bill and I'm stitting here on capital hill.......lot of slips before its written in stone. It wont happen IMO

Has anyone considered that all these bills popping up not only in Congress but at the state level is an attempt to spread the NRA out too thin and exhaust resources?

This is what the fed govt is trying to do. They want this to be a state problem because it will not be passed as a fed law. TELL YOUR REPS TO F*** O** this and make sure that they understand that if they back this we will vote them out. I am just a humble person ( 62 years old and I have served my country in many ways but) DO NOT ASK ME TO GIVE UP MY RIGHTS BECAUSE THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!!!! THIS IS NOT BULLSHIT JUST THE TRUTH.

This is why I have logged 894 miles and thousands of feet elevation changes through snow and ice mountain passes to show my face at my capitol.

My state has excellent gun laws BUT they need to know that it will remain that way.....that’s why I was so pissed that only 1000 people showed up. On the 8th they announced the numbers we had on the Jan 19th rally......4000 to make it round. That turned some heads in the capitol.

I beg everyone who is under the belief they don’t have to go to the capitols because their state isn’t bad.....please go because as JohnA says " they need to be reminded they are outnumbered" and that we care about our existing rights.

As usual, very well said and very true Oli.

PA is jumping on the bandwagon too. Everyone of these was submitted from a Philly area rep. I wish that area would break off, float down the Delaware and go out to sea to sink! On the plus side I don't see these passing but they seem to be of the mind to throw everything at us and will see what sticks. As for the state police, they have been illegally keeping gun ownership info. for years even after court orders to destroy them! I have no confidence that they ever stopped.

Senate Bill 191: Would implement a gun-rationing scheme and limit law-abiding gun owners to the purchase of one handgun a month.
House Bill 239: Would require all firearms to be registered with the Pennsylvania State Police. As we know from experiences in California, Canada and Australia, gun registration enables gun confiscation—only from honest citizens—since criminals do not register their guns.
House Bill 518: Would infringe on your inherent right to self-defense by repealing important self-defense provisions enacted in 2011...Castle Doctrine

Thanks CM, they can propose whatever they want…..not happening.
It shouldn’t make it too far up there, and like we have discussed in the past, we all have our population centers to deal with…..I won’t be the slightest surprised when ours comes out…..I would be surprised if it went anywhere.
I already know Sheriffs aren’t going in people’s houses here so there goes that part, as far as not being able to buy a semi auto with the ability to accept a detachable magazine at a store…….I suppose a lot of people won’t have a problem doing it out of a trunk . They do it with everything from fireworks to human beings….I suppose an AR15 won’t be much of a stretch for your average fee American

Good news for Washington State

Washington: Freedom Prevails in Olympia - Anti-Gun Legislation Dead for 2013

Freedom has prevailed again in Olympia! Yesterday was the deadline for legislation to be voted out of its chamber of origin. Thanks to your hard work and relentless opposition, House Bill 1588 failed to come up for a vote on the House floor. The fate of the so-called “universal background check” legislation and your rights came down to the wire.

On Tuesday, the state House of Representatives came to a halt for more than seven hours as House Democrats tried to round up enough votes to pass this anti-gun measure. As NRA-ILA previously reported, HB 1588 could have criminalized all private sales of firearms.

HB 1588, introduced by state Representative Jamie Pederson (D-43), was nothing more than a regulatory scheme that would have created a huge burden for law-abiding citizens, been unenforceable, and ignored by criminals. This bill was nothing more than a precursor to Universal Firearm REGISTRATION.

Your participation in the legislative process was essential to this victory! Although your Second Amendment rights were defended in Olympia during this round, the attack on your inherent right to self-defense and right to keep and bear arms is far from over. Gun owners and sportsmen must remain vigilant in order to preserve our freedoms!

The following anti-gun bills are also dead for this session:

House Bill 1676, introduced by state Representative Ruth Kagi (D-32), a so-called “child access prevention” bill which would have singled out the storage of firearms for criminalization under certain circumstances.

House Bill 1703, introduced by state Representative Laurie Jinkins (D-27), would have levied an outrageous tax on all firearm and ammunition purchases to create more bureaucracy in the form of a “firearm safety” education program.

Senate Bill 5737, introduced by state Senators Ed Murray (D-43) and Jeanne Kohl-Welles (D-36), would have banned commonly owned firearms mischaracterized as “assault weapons” and magazines that hold more than ten rounds. This extreme measure would have also allowed in-home inspections by law enforcement.

Your NRA-ILA will continue to keep you informed as this legislative session continues and draws to its adjournment. Caution: legislative rules can always be waived, so until the legislature adjourns on April 28, we must remain vigilant.

This is the exact problem I have with our state's gun association, Oli. BFA members, one who is a NRA board member, constantly questions the need to any gun owner to "protest" anywhere in the state. They feel that because we have pro-gun reps right now that any type of protest would be "dangerous to our cause" (their words not mine). That is why I'm sooo pissed at the BFA and their crap. I voted for Linda Walker to be on the NRA board but I'll be voting her off when her name comes up again. We can not be complacent when it comes to our rights. Those on our side today could be on the other side tomorrow if they feel gun owners (not the NRA or BFA or any other association) are giving in...

BTW, Cincinnati bell "upgraded" our service to today. So, now we are sooooo sssllloooowwww tthhhaaattt IIII cccaaannnn sssmmmoookkkeee aaaa wwwhhhoollle cccciiigggaaaarrr bbbeeefffooorrreee ttthhhiiiissss ppppooossssttttsss......
