Why are the 500E .410 parts so expensive?

Lately I've had the hankering for a .410. I like to buy all the parts and assemble the shotgun myself. Holy crap, .410 parts are expensive. The only thing I can think of is lack of supply and availability. Your thoughts?

That'd just about cover it.

Production numbers on complete .410 shotguns are a small percentage compared to 12 and even 20 gauge. Replacement parts can be difficult to find even for the larger bores. You might email our contact at Mossberg to see if he can help...
