wood forearm care

mbshop

.270 WIN
I got my wood forearm off today and I noticed that it is raw wood inside of it. any one do anything with that ?
maybe some kind of oil like mineral oil ? or paint some polyurethane on it ? thanks,

You could, but it won't make any difference to the wood. All a finish does is slow the changes in moisture content of the wood due to natural seasonal changes in humidity, and for something as small as a forearm that's already fully dried those changes are microscopic. If you think the wood is too dried out looking, any common furniture oil - lemon oil for example - will take care of it.

well, I tried to ignore it but I finally broke down and put a light coat of mineral oil on the bare wood, let it sit for 10 minutes and then wiped it off. if anything, at least the wood looks better though you can't see it. I can see it mentally. thanks,
