...we are screwed.

I have never been so disappointed in my country.

Is it bad that my first thought after hearing the results was "what can I sell to buy a few more guns before I can't anymore?"

This goes way beyond the just gun ownership... my main concern of course is the state of our military and the future for our troops. I can only predict another Budget standstill and the threat of loosing a paycheck. Well, I might start being more active in the survival sub forum... who's with me.

On the flip side, as responsible gun owners and believers in the 2nd Amendment, now is the time we need to stand up for our rights and do more to be heared! I'm not giving up yet, but things might get tough soon :|

I'm kind of torn on buying any more firearms right now. Obama is making it sound like he's not only going to place another assault weapons ban in effect, but try to confinscate all weapons that fall under that ban. Thoughts?

Burry them...

Ben Franklin -
"When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.

Look at the maps of states, county by county and it's the cities that voted in Obama. Who get's the majority of the federal money?...the cities. Who will keep paying for it?...everyone else.

Obama won and his rating was terrible. The only thing rated lower is Congress. Now we need to rely on them to fix this mess...uggggh :|

I have no words to describe my disappointment in the American people right now.

I still think we were screwed either way. Both candidates had terrible economic policies. I voted for Romney, but my respect for him was limited. At least we only have to put up with that communist piece of s**t for four more years...

Hunker down, stay low...don't do stupid crap with your guns that will give liberal and socialist the fuel for burning us at the stake. Support the NRA and all of your local Gov't representatives who have your rights in mind. I was pleasently surprised when I wrote letters to our state reps and senators about apposing the U.N. Gun Control, and I actually recieved replies! Wait it out for the next few year and if you know of a freind or family member who didn't vote or doesn't vote... get them to register and make their voice heard.

The American people got what THEY wanted.
Its not what you or I wanted but obviously our opinions was not what THEY wanted.

God Help America Now!

In Connecticut we also lost some Fantastic State Senators.
Life is going to get even tougher in my neck of the woods for our guns.

It's starting already...Harry Reid went on record today as wanting to raise the debt limit a couple trillion, to 19 trillion.

Hunker down, stay low...don't do stupid crap with your guns that will give liberal and socialist the fuel for burning us at the stake.
.
Pretty well said. The demise will not be overnight. In fact if BHO can place 2+ more on the Supreme Court the total damage of his 2 terms may not be know for many years

LTB45, sorry to hear you lost some allies as they seem to be getting harder to come by.

I did "celebrate" the end of the the 2012 election by stopping by the LGS and picking of a Ruger bolt action in .308. Bringing home a new gun didn't even have the usual good feeling though.

Hmmmm...Patraeus was caught in October but is wasn't released until after the election but before he can testify on Libya. Gun running to terrorists that dwarfs Fast and Furious was likely to come up. Hillary's schedule is to busy to testify and BHO is back on the golf course. Business as usual in DC

I too am most disappointed in about 56% of Americans. Primarily those who voted for what they can get.

Why does it feel like there are two seperate and distinct Americas and we're the minority? I mean like minded folks who still believe in individual liberties and personal accountability. Sink or swim, pass or fail on your own merrit. Ambition to do better and aspire to be greater. People with drive and desire to succeed. Are these antiquated ideas, something that is romantic fantasy?

Roughly 50% of the countries population voted to keep the govt ambilical cord hooked up without even wanting to know how their stuff is bein paid for, nor do they care. It isn't a white/black issue either.

4 more years, but the effects may last generations and the fact is that once legislation is passed and enacted its chances of bein repealed are slim if not almost nonexistent.

My first thought also was how can I get more guns quickly. My tax returns won't be as much this next year and I feel like that will be too late anyway. I could be wrong though. Just feels like there is something ominous in the air.

Here's my take on this election and I'm gonna be full disclosure here:

I was born and raised in Germany to a German mother and an Army dad. I spent 15 years of my childhood in Germany and wouldn't trade it for the world. There are some things that Germany/Europe do a little better than the U.S...mainly education and legal drinking age  All jokes aside, I wouldn't change a thing about my life and I don't regret growing up in Europe. But one of the biggest things I learned were the unique differences between the United States and other countries... many of which I didn't recognize until I was an Adult and had my own family.

I think a good portion of the 56% that voted for Obama were the younger crowds, those who rely on the benifits of the current Gov't. I once was a die hard Democrat  all for equality, for Gov't programs to help the "poor and less fortunate" and for equal opportunity for everyone... regardless of your accomplishments/ characters.

But guess what, once I was a productive member of society... i.e. not living at home, paying my own bills, providing for my family... I realized that many of the ideals I had believed in actually were counter productive to my success. I learned that it takes work to accomplish a goal, sometimes at the cost of sacrificing some luxuries.

The problems lies with those that haven't "grown up", those that haven't had to care for anything but themselves. But I don't believe that our current society teaches responsibility anymore, and that starts at a VERY young age, and until we can fundamentally change that "taking/receiving" attitude, you won't see a change in this countries political climate.

I can't tell what the future holds, and I hope we can pull together to come back to some of the principles this country was founded on, and when the time calls for it, fight (figuratively :?: ) for those principles.

Exactly. Or, at least, what they think they wanted. Maybe, if things get bad enough for the wanna be socialists, they will come around...or not. :( Take care. Tom Worthington.
