Looks more like a marlin 60 with ATI fiberforce stock to me.

No extended magazine, skeletonized buttstock, etc

I, too, was confused by the reporting (the media screwed the pooch on this one big time) on the shooting. However, according to the medical examiner, the victims were shot with a rifle:

From other more recent reports from the police, the gun left in the car was a shotgun and the shooter had 2 9MM handguns and a Bushmaster .223 with him in the building. I was very suspicious at first because the rifle was reportedly in the car. I'm still wondering, however, about the second shooter that was reported and the guy they found in the woods in camo.

The guy in the woods was out there cutting wood and was rounded up while cops were clearing the area.
He had on Camo pants.
I hate to say this but just because an ME, a government employee states something, unfortunately does not make it true.
I should also state that I am not some type of conspiracy theory nutter, just someone that realizes if they were all killed with handguns, it would not fit into the governments want, for a total gun ban.

Riverview is about 20 miles from me. And that company in South Windsor is 2 towns over from me.....

Mental Health should be the focus on the past incidents....not the gun laws.

We were having a bit of downtime today at work and the conversation turned to this, as well as the looming gun control legislation. One of my co-workers brought up a point I hadn't given any notice to. By all accounts, the media has reported that the shooter was carrying his older brothers I.D. which is why he was misidentified at first. So with the shooter having been ID'd as someone from New Jersey, how did the police know to go to the house to find the deceased mother within an hour?

Too many things here smell.......odd.

could someone please tell me what is wrong with having an armed uniformed policemen at every school? i see a lot of schools have a "greeter" sitting at a desk when you enter a school. we have a 70yo woman at our elementary school.
there is a school district near me where they hired security guards at every school on their own.
we need to protect our children and grandchildren.
there are a lot of vets,already trained looking for jobs. we need to find the funds,end of story.

sorry for my rant,just frustrated over all this.

They are sure that AT LEAST an "assault rifle" was used... Bet yet the very first news that was shown on it they said that he used 2 pistols >:| Sound Familiar?

So, according to the report I read, he was convicted of murder 30 years ago of beating a woman to death with a hammer.

Then apparently was released

Thus would've been prohibited from owning a firearm, is probably guilty of arson, and very likely attempted murder, murder.

Yep, add more laws.

see how well they work.

laws only work for those of us willing to adhere to them.

And why I need a gun to protect myself and my family from those that don't

Apparently the shooter in this case had done more than a few years in the pen for killing his mother with a hammer, so I'll go out on a limb and say he wasn't the legal owner of the firearms. I'll also go out on a limb and say that the media will show that he was using a rifle intended and designed for hunting.......because not only are "assault rifles" dangerous, so are the "high-powered" hunting rifles that "pack the same power as a military sniper rifle".

They are going to keep pushing and spinning these stories until the only things left OUT of a weapons ban are single-shot .22's and muzzleloaders. This country has hit the tipping point of being 52% sheeple who blindly follow a media that wants to see us turn into the United Socialist States of Amerika.

The parents wasted no time...

the state Board of Education, Department of Education and Education Commissioner had failed to take appropriate steps to protect children from "foreseeable harm."

It said they had failed to provide a "safe school setting" or design "an effective student safety emergency response plan and protocol."

Pinsky said he was approached by the child's parents within a week of the shooting.
 
i forgot what town,but a school board is setting aside monies to train certain teachers in firearm safety, and the buying of hand guns and permits.
it should be done like the sky marshall program.

This is a follow up to the post LTB45 made awhile back regarding what meds Lanza was taking. This information is still not forthcoming. I'msure this will be burried if it doesn't suppor the anti gun efforts. It does seem these mass shooters have meds in common. The link doesn't shed any light into Lanza but asks the question "why is this being ignored?" and lists previous mass killers and their meds.

It will most definitely get shoved to the side and buried if they don't see any gain from it. Just like the fact that the rifle/shotgun/whatever it was, was found in someone else's car and that it wasn't an AR... All disturbing facts that are being ignored and covered up because they cannot gain anything from it.

Stuff the NRA needs to tackle
