Here are a few pics of one of my AR15 rifles

Nightsite is so bad, Chuck Norris wants to be like him when he grows up and becomes known as Charles Norris.

You guys crack me up!

How do you like the aimpoint arrangement on the scout mount nite?

I like the Micro on it. It's precise enough for what my rifles' primary use is. It adds virtually no weight. I wish it co-witnessed with the truly wonderful iron sights but alas it doesn't. I think I'll get a Larue or Aimpoint QD low mount so I can still use the irons whenever the mood strikes. There is an aftermarket rail mount low enough allow a co-witness, but since it's a patrol rifle and I work nights it really isn't worth the effort. I need that dot a lot more than iron sights. Gotta love the always-ON 5-year estimated battery life from a CR2032. Those Daniel Defense videos are really confidence inspiring to see the beating they can endure.

If it wasn't so heavy I'd love to have the CompM4S on the M1A because the rotating brightness switch is better but then I would also add height issues that I don't have with the Micro. I still have a good cheek weld with the Micro.

I've never shot the rifle to the point that the mount got very hot so I doubt the T-1 will ever have heat sink issues.

I've got a few pics of it at home but I'm at work right now. I might get them uploaded to Photobucket here real soon if you're interested in seeing them.

Okay, I got the pics uploaded this morning.

I hope this isn't positively boring the hell out of most of you. I've sorta taken a tangent away from my original thread starting post about one of my AR rifles. Heck, that rifle has a totally different optic on it now, something I am damn proud to say I accomplished. The EoTech always bothered me because it ate batteries plus I couldn't have it "always ON". A lot of times I kept the battery door unscrewed with a piece of blue 3M painters tape over the battery to hold it in and save the battery from draining (which they do even when OFF). I love the EoTech concept, love the EoTech view thru the sight, love the 65-MOA ring, and they are pretty damn tough optics. But I had to go with something I could just forget about for the next eight years basically. So now that patrol rifle sports a CM4S.

So @jgwills here are a couple pics of the scout mount with a micro. The scout mount is held onto the barrel at its forward half so I moved the Micro as far back as possible away from the build up of heat. But like I said earlier I don't really consider heat that much of an issue.

This shot was taken with the irons aligned, but they are about a half-inch below the dot and the the 20mm tube occludes any co-witnessing of the irons. Not a big deal. The dot is still plenty low for me to keep a steady cheek weld on the stock. I can look at this for five years and not get tired of it. I chose the 4-MOA dot option and I'm glad I did.

And here is my family of work guns that I either carry, or use for trainers as an instructor. I recently put my wonderfully flawless 1911 away <SAD> for a cheap pistol capable of mounting a light. This is my department-issued 22, but I have also shown you guys my personally owned 34 that I really like a lot. And the Dissipator is used for helping students with M-Forgeries that can't seem to shoot carbine length irons very well to see if rifle length sights make a difference. For some reason I have always liked the look of a Dissipator, but I'm maybe going to put Magpul MOE handquards on it some day. Or maybe not.

Sorry for rambling. I should have done this after some sleep!

You can ramble all you want when you throw that kind of gun porn on the screen!!!

Great team you have assembled there Nitesite!!

@nitesite now that you have three of the most popular aimpoints... if you could only choose one of them for your carbine, which would you go with?
I like the M4S because of it's tank construction and ability to use AA's. I like the PRO because it's the best package deal for a quality red dot optic out there. I like the T1 Micro because you can't beat it's size/weight, plus it's damn near bomb proof as well (quite litteraly!)

Agreed. Thanks for the pic of the micro mounted on the scout. I just like that concept alot. If I ever got an itch to get myself an m1a I'd probably do the same setup. I do know a guy wanting to sell one but its sitting in an Archangel stock and he wants way more than I'd ever want to pay for one.

Hey @nitesite ,

I've been searching around but can't find a definitive answer on the interwebs. Will the Magpul MOE light mount attach through the top of an A2 handguard? I'm looking for something to set up on my Pop's rifle and would like to position a TLR1 in virtually the same position as your light. I am thinking a right side MOE mount fixed on top of the handguard would position the light to the left as intended, but am concerned about clearance and proximity to the FSB. For $10 I could just buy it and try it, but I figured I'd pick your brain for some insight...

L.E.S.~
I'm certain that the Magpul mount I'm running is for attaching only to MOE handguards. But to make certain I can pull my handguards and try the swap. Let me have a day or two to get on it, okay?

Thank you Sir, but you don't have to do all that.

I couldn't find any instances on-line where anyone had attached the mount to anything other than an MOE handguard, but just needed to hear from someone I knew who had one. I have a couple other options in the hopper. Thank you for the feedback...

If I recall correctly the raised line-up keys underneath the mount are thin and long (rectangular) to fit tightly in the slots of the MOE handguard. I can take a pic if you'd like to see.

I appreciate that night, but I will take your word for it.

Just needed to check the $10 option off my list before I move up the pricing ladder...

Nite, what do they put on the end of those Springfield's? Is that like a factory break or a flash hider?

That's a factory muzzle device that helps keep all the badassery from blinding bystanders...

That is one mean machine !

He said Coast Guard... hehe. :D

You never answered me by the way...
